>> My name is Alex Turner.
I am an animation student at San Jose State University.
And I'm a summer education intern
for the Walt Disney Family Museum.
Just being able to come to work and be inspired
to keep pursuing my own goals
and art is just a really huge benefit.
Specifically in the Animation Illustration Program I feel
like I have pretty strong fundamentals in art
and animation and what we're doing here at the camp
at the Walt Disney Family Museum, I've been able
to apply a lot of those skills, like either design or painting
or you know just being organized.
[music] The kids come in and we just help them paint or work
in journals and I'm teaching them a little bit about how
to use live action reference when drawing animation
so they get a chance to like draw themselves and a partner,
doing like certain actions and breaking down poses
like how Walt Disney started, you know,
with the 2D animation so it's really cool.
We try and incorporate a lot of that,
a lot of Walt's like ideas in it.
And we're letting them see how like pixilation works
and so they're making a lot of videos.
And in this specific camp that I'm working on right now,
they're doing a lot of performing,
kind of choreography type stuff, just figuring out how,
like what it takes to actually put on the little
like performance and that's really important in animation.
Apply for whatever you can, I mean there's no harm in applying
for something, even if you think you're not going to get it.
Like there's still a chance that you will and just by going
through that process it's always going to be so helpful
in the future because you're not put in such a good position
as you are in college, when you're out of school.
