>> Dr. Elizabeth Andress: Georgia has really always had a very strong connection with
Extension food preservation and canning programs
whether it be just located in Georgia or not.
But, of course, because of that connection
Georgia has always been a part of the development of
food preservation through Extension.
We deliver ServSafe training usually through
2-day workshops for manager training in Georgia.
I know several instances where people have said
“Because I already had ServSafe certification,
they hired me over somebody else.”
Another reason why I got into bringing this program through
our Extension system is that I feel like by teaching
food handlers good food safety practices on the job
whether it's required or not for their certification that
I hope will translate to them using good safe food handling
practices at home and in other aspects of their life also.
