My name is Takif Omen Stringer and I'm 19 years old
I was born in southern France and I lived there until I was 5.
Then my family moved to England for one year
From there, we moved to the USA, where my father is from.
My mother is from Germany.
and my father is from the US
We were all homeschooled, all 7 of us in the family
It was definitely the best the best experience
I ever had
We learned new things from my father every day
I would always be alongside my parents
meeting the pressing needs of the community
(singing) Somebody's crying, Lord, *** ba yah
There's no distinctions between whether someone is black or white
or yellow or anything else
We are all human beings,
all working towards the same goal,
and so I can say that growing up in the communities...
I have never once...
really, for me, it's hard to even grasp what people talk about
when there's accusations brought against us
about racial discrimination
I've never felt this in the community
Those I grew up with were my family
they are the ones I relate to
If I were ever in trouble I will call some of my white friends
In most of the communities I lived in, our family is the only black family
So all my friends are white.
When I'm among them, it is like being among anybody else.
O Lord, *** ba yah
Somebody's in despair
Somebody feels like no one cares
O, oh, *** ba yah
