As a painter, the thing that art does help me with is in picking the colors. Someone
wrote a book and has pictures of the different veneer looks. Some of them are where the teeth
are sharper. They’re flatter. They’re rounder. They have different looks and I found
that by showing these to the patient, the patient can let me know, “Well, this is
what I like,” and I tend to stick to two or three of the different formats that are
there. I explain to them this is what I think would look good. But at least they have some
input and they can help me pick. That’s more important to have the patient involved
than to have a dentist that says, “This is what you’re going to get because I know
best,” and I think that’s wrong. I don’t think that’s the best way to approach it.
