Hello, Bill. What can I help you with? Do you have any tips to help me with gap fills
in the listening section of the exam? Yes, I do. First, make sure that you read
everything before the audio begins. Pay attention to how many words and numbers you can use.
Next, quickly look at all of the information you have. This will give you clues about what
goes into the gaps. Then, for each gap, try to guess how many
words or numbers should go there. What kind of word or words belong in the gap? Guess
if it's a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb. For verbs, which tense is the missing word? Past, present,
or future? For nouns, ask yourself if the missing word is singular or plural.
Will I have time to do all of this before the audio begins?
You will if you do it quickly. You have to use your time wisely. Instead of listening
to directions, read ahead and make predictions. When you've finished answering all of the
questions in a section, don't keep listening to the audio. Go on to the next set of questions
and make predictions. Ok, got it. I'll make sure to practice my
prediction skills before I take the test. Super.
