So we have actually have
ten winnable battles, unintended pregnancy is right there at the top as one of our
winnable battles. And these are really issues throughout the state of Colorado that we realize
are, umm, public health issues that we can make improvements in,
and with, specifically, with unintended pregnancy our goal was to reduce
the number of unintended pregnancies across the state. It causes a very significant
economic burden on the health care system. But also on the mother and the children
and the father. And we want people to be educated and if they can go to the website
Beforeplay.org, they can probably find all the information they need to know about contraception,
about safe sex, about STDs, as well as community resources and guides
to make the right decisions moving forward.
85 out of 100 women
not using birth control will be pregnant within a year. If you don't want to be part of that 85%
now is the time to find and use the birth control method that best suites
you. At Beforeplay.org the Method Selector can help you with that.
It's all part of our efforts to arm young adults with the resources they need
to help their future and their health.
You know you got pills,
spermicide, male and female condoms, the patch, the shot, the sponge,
diaphragm, the ring. My fiance
and I, before we, back when we were just boyfriend and girlfriend, before we had sex
I made him get STD tested and we talked about birth control then. I mean like I
am on birth control so it's like I just kind of like tell them that
I'm on it. You're kind of making a civil thing, it's not like we're trying to force
it on them or anything like that, it's just good conversation that
that comes by. It's really easy actually, you just tell them that I'm on
it and I need to use a *** and stuff to stay away from STDs.
It goes a lot smoother than people think.
I was taking the pill for a while but it's hard to take everyday so I got
a Depo Shot. Now I am taking that and it definitely helps and
keeps me from getting pregnant 'cause I'm only 18, so.
Right now I'm on the Mirena IUD and I just
found that it's a little painful but it's worth it. It's very, it's very
economically feasible with my health insurance and I don't have to take a pill
everyday. Yea I'm wearing condoms and make sure my girlfriend stays
on birth control. We make sure we have safe sex, we're going to have sex is all.
You know, make sure you got protection or anything like that. Like this. Yea, like this.
Yea one of these right here.
