Probably on my second or third day down there I met Alma. Her son
had Multiple Sclerosis.
It's one thing
to be in a catastrophe and to be able to
survive yourself because you can move around, you can swim, you can climb,
whatever you have to do for survival. But to know that your
child, your youngest son, is in a situation where he can't help himself was very
frustrating, you know, for her and her mom.
This is her mother.
I spent a good part of the day with them,
just, you know talking to them. The, the mother is such a together lady. You know, just
reminiscing on what life used to be like before being
uprooted by the hurricane,
and by this travesty in their life.
And I hope those people fight with everything they have to fight with
to maintain their community.
Because that's basic. Family is our basic unit. And if you can't keep your
family together,
you know, what else is there.
Family and friends.
