A twenty three month old baby will soon be returning back home from
Savannah with a newly repaired heart and hopefully a new lease on life.
Little Lee Ann Howell will board a plane for Trinidad tomorrow
where the rest of her family anxiously awaits her
Lee Ann had a serious heart defect that would have been fatal
but thanks to Savannah's Hearts for Tots program
Lee Ann and her mother were flown here to Savannah for what her doctors call a life saving surgery.
Knowing Lee Ann had a fifty - fifty chance and seeing that she came through successfully is a miracle.
Dr. Morales did that for me.
All those involved in the Heart for Tots program are pleased with Lee Ann's success
but without more donations, they will not be able to provide the same surgery for other
children from underdeveloped countries. You can help by contacting
Hearts for Tots at this address
That is a very nice story
Definately and nice is the way, I mean the word for the weather we have heading our way.
That's exactly right
Well we have the final chapter tonight about happy ending to a story
matter today we have told you that for the past several weeks, twenty three month
Lee Ann and her mother Stephanie
left Savannah yesterday bound for their home in Trinidad
Lee Ann was brought to Savannah for treatment of her heart condition
congenital heart defect
but Savannah's Hearts for Tots program brought Lee Ann in
for the life-saving operation at a minimal cost and now the Hearts for Tots
program is looking forward to helping others like Lee Ann live a normal life
just like other kids and again if you'd like to help the Hearts for Tots program you
can call us here at the station and we will put you in contact with the proper
people will tell you how you can go about doing that.
It's a wonderful program because they are needing all kinds of volunteers for transportation
purposes as well as host families interpreters on all kinds of things like
that as well as funding and it is a non-profit organization.
That's a very nice organization and what a cute baby that was.
And now back home to Trinidad.
And the mission is to bring in two to three children per month
They need some help so give us a call at the station if you want to get involved.
