inhibited about school uh... b_m_i_ and my uh... company a than or fifty at the
center for college and career uh... readiness peter development
uh... that button committed to an end to meet with the hopeful a foundation
but he's been there and i'm the chairman and senior faculty at that level center
for college and career interests and today with the help of hope for life
and at the sponsorship of many organizations and the community groups
across premier
uh... we have the launch of the premiere one hundred
in our discussion today liza first out hard look
at some of the issues facing the our young people
and use violence
and then a discussion and planning
what we can do together
and it's very interesting to note that around the table out we had on uh... the
young man who's recently out of jail
we had folks you are involved in the the culture of violence we had uh... at the
police and security
we had educators we had other community organizations because the thing that we
know
is that
if we're going to be successful and tackling these new challenges we need
everyone in the community
david what do you think was the most exciting
about the most impactful
from the conversations around the table
a
the
the
the
the
depicting the most intractable
thing was it
collaboration
uh... in my country and watch it for many years the unity is one thing that
has been divided
to either financial you know uh... don falls
it is the gang violence destructive ecstasy things that they probably
wouldn't you'll be able to save had the voices that he had a voice today and had
a voice together
uh... watching as we move forward
the information that we got and just get informed from the feed the people comin'
up to me afterwards is that
this is probably
one of the greatest experince that that experience of having too many wrote
workshops and they said to reason for it because signal on the table
somebody
doesn't look like me
but doesn't work in the same job isme it was a parent or on the table it was a
young man who just was was incarcerated comino the change in our lives
that void more on the one they said what one educators that export ismailis
because they knew the young and post here's to rise to noted he was here
that's the connection we have uh... this is why the twenty to one hundred so
important there beyond the student's value but not here to tell you what to
do well here to listen and we doing things together
so
as a next step
we have six communities that just began today
and they will be going out asking you
to participate
we're looking for uh... increased participation from our business
community or funders our community organizations our families
and especially our young people
the leaders today who knew the most who with the smartest were actually the kids
at the table as we move forward not innate workshop not in the training
but in eight year long planning process for how we as a community come together
to tackle
these problems
i think it's great and one thing i do want to see is a kevin has been a
is very interesting because the one thing they didn't mention a boat in a
lot of groups come into alignment and a lot of a lot of them coming in and tell
us what to do
they have been very very opened and it's been a sense of trust
and i think we've been under about three or four times now he's much more between
two sixteen months and now they've got a sense of trust sitting date they trust
you and and before you know i kind of been connie comedian now after so silly
behalf affection even who flies and you know people bermuda i want to thank you
very much because it's a difficult even the hardship given behind it is not paid
less just comes on this
really put a strong state code and helping to develop this community i
really do appreciate it and and i just want you to know i'm is not to anything
they can concede to you but this has been a huge a huge step and development
of young people separate *** thanks for you guys are doing all the work is a
relationship
uh...
