Welcome to our XO VIP SHOW.
I would like to present our dental team: Ricarda and Karsten. XO users from Hamburg.
I am Kim Sørensen the CEO of XO CARE.
What I would like to speak with you about is "Why do we do what we do".
You will say, you are a businessman and you want to earn money.
And that is clear, I will not deny that.
But we also looking for the meaning.
And this meaning is what we call extraordinary dentistry.
The task that we set for ourselves, our mission, you can see it on the slide.
In short we want to help you to perform professional, caring, ergonomic and economic dentistry.
First element is professional dentistry, so how can we help you make better treatments.
In next minutes we will present this workstation and how well you may work with it.
Let us start with the first segment mentioned by Kim Sørensen.
We want dentists to work in a professional way.
Here we have 3 subjects: "focus", "optimal" and "individual".
We want the dentist to remain focused on the working area.
We want that the dentist to work with optimal instrument settings.
And we want the dentist to be able to adjust the workstation to his individual needs.
We are starting from the first point "focus": Everything is controlled with the foot.
I keep my hands free. I do not have to look away to switch on/off something and that really helps me to focus on the oral cavity.
What further helps us concentrate on the treatment is XO Instant View.
Each time the micro motor stops a powerful air blow automatically dries the working area.
Let me demonstrate that. Listen to the air blow - it's like using the multifunction syringe.
When I want to dry the working area, I don't have to change from/to the syringe and I remain focused.
But the most important XO 4 feature is the fact that all unit instruments are placed centrally over the chest of the patient.
And so, during the treatment we can easily exchange instruments.
Now let's see how elegant XO 4 hand working technique is.
When you look at my hands and my upper body you see that I don't have to move and look away from the working area and therefore I have a very fluent workflow.
And I remain focused on the working area.
Here we see the traditional way of working with the instruments located to the right of the chair.
I have to twist my body and look away from the working area in order to reach an instrument.
Thereafter I have to turn back again in order to perform the treatment.
After using the instrument I have again to twist my body and look away in order to put the instrument back and reach a new one.
We believe that this working method makes you loose focus on your working area.
Now we come to the point "optimal" - or working with optimal instrument parameters.
A unique feature of XO 4 is the possibility of adjusting the amount of spray water with the foot control.
That means that I don't have to use my contaminated hands in order to change it - only with a foot control.
For example, during preparation I need a wet spray with a lot of water.
At other times, when I work in a front tooth, I decrease the amount of water in order to avoid spraying outside the mouth.
The next interesting features are XO Instrument Programs and XO Smart Link.
We have a possibility to work with instrument programs.
It is a named setup of all instrument parameters related to a specific treatment.
All instrument parameters can be set in advance and used later during a treatment.
For example, for a preparation you need high speed, maximal torque and a wet spray.
When I am done, with just 2 clicks on the foot control I change from one program to another.
Here you see the program "excavation", where I need different settings.
I need a lower speed and a lower torque so that I can feel when I touch healthy dentine. And I don't need spray water.
And so I always have the optimal setting of the instruments.
I have access to special programs for e.g. endo treatment and implantology.
Individual. We know that all of you are individuals that you want to have your own personalized workstation.
We have a very simple to get to know, very simple to use workstation for those of you who like that, we call it XO 4-2.
For those of you who would like to work with instrument programs like we heard before and who also want to configure your own unit,
we have XO 4-6 that together with XO Smart Link software allows you to for example configure foot control.
You can see here an example on how you can yourself decide how foot control works.
Caring dentistry. Ricarda, can you tell us what do we mean by that?
I would like to tell you about the elements: "safe", "confident" and "comfortable".
I would like to start with "safe".
It takes me 2 minutes to start the disinfection of the suction and water systems.
I just need to attach the suction hoses to the left side of the unit and to insert the instrument hoses into the cuspidor and start the disinfection process.
All handles and instruments pad etc are easy to detach and put into the thermo disinfector or sterilized.
What is really important is that the surfaces of the workstation are smooth and easy to clean and disinfect.
As something new for IDS - XO introduces an antibacterial paint on all powder painted surfaces.
Coming "confidence", of both the dental team and the patient.
XO 4 is designed so that the instruments are parked to the left side of the chair.
When the patient enters she does not see the unit instruments.
And when the patient is positioned in the chair - she does not see the unit instruments either.
In our practice we never experience patients who are afraid of this working technique.
Another thing that adds to patient's confidence is XO 4's display on a long articulating arm - that allows the patient to see the display.
Coming to "comfortable".
What XO has done to increase the patient's comfort.
The chair of course: with integrated arms rests and a very stable neck support.
And finally memory foam and XO Scuba upholstery that allows the skin to breathe.
Not to forget the small things.
Such as XO Patient Tray - patient's own domain during the treatment.
I think that every dentist wants to work in an ergonomic way.
The main principle of XO CARE is that we want dentists to sit well, see well and work well - all in the same time.
In next minutes we will demonstrate this concept and I start with "sitting well".
We want to sit in the upright balanced position.
We do not want to twist the upper body.
What not everybody knows is that the maximum articulation in the human hip joint is 60 degrees.
To avoid injuries of the spine you then need to sit with an angle of about 120 degrees between thighs and upper body, like on a horse saddle.
We often see dentists work like this - sitting with horizontal thighs and twisting the upper body.
We want to see all surfaces of all teeth without twisting!
The first thing we do is work in different dentist positions.
Between 9 and 12 o'clock position.
Therefore I need enough place under patient chair.
As you can see I do not bend my back.
In order to see well, we have to use 6 different patient positions.
3 for the upper jaw and 3 for the lower jaw.
When we combine the 6 patient positions with the 4 dentist positions we are able to see all surfaces of treated teeth
without twisting the upper body.
Another important point related to seeing well is an ideal working distance.
This distance is shorter than you would normally think - around 30 cm.
In many dental practices we see dentists positioning the patient too low and thereby the dentist has to bend forward in order to see well.
This is very quickly reflected by a back pain.
We want you to sit upright with the optimal distance between your eyes and your patient.
Therefore you have to make sure that the patient chair can be lifted high enough.
The next point of seeing well is the right positioning of the light.
We do not want the lamp to be positioned in this way, it is totally wrong.
We want to have the lamp positioned in accordance to the "head light" principle, about 10 cm from the forehead.
And now I position the lamp so that the light beam is parallel to my sight.
In this way I won't experience shadows in the working area.
I also want to work without shadows in 12 o'clock position; therefore I need a long arm as on XO Daylight.
Now you know how to sit and see well, lets continue to how to work well.
It is very important that the unit instruments are placed centrally over the chest of the patient.
I can reach the instruments without strain in my hands and without twisting my upper body and that is how we want to work.
What comes next is that all unit instruments are individually balanced.
I maintain my tactile sense and I can position the instrument in all angles - without strain.
That is what we call work well.
New for the IDS is XO Auto Return Holder. I simply let go of the suction and the hose finds its way back.
We also didn't forget about our left handed colleagues. This equipment can be supplied in a left handed version.
We just switch the order of unit instruments and move the suction holder from the left side to the right side of the unit. And that's it.
Economic dentistry. What do we mean by that?
Yes, we would like to offer you a working environment that is cost efficient, reliable and attractive.
First about cost effectiveness.
Many dentist have over the years asked me "Why are your workstations so expensive?".
And I say "Well, it costs money to make quality products", but I think that the question is not relevant.
The most important is not what it costs, but what you can do with your unit.
And now Karsten and Ricarda will show us an efficient four handed technique that saves time.
We want to work efficiently using a four handed technique.
The dental assistant hands me all the instruments.
Here you see how we exchange hand pieces.
I don't have to look away from the working area.
Because my assistant prepares and hands me in everything I need.
And now Ricarda will show us how easy it is to change a unit into a solo working place.
It is not a problem to transform the unit into a solo working place.
I just move hand instrument table, and what's most important, the suction so that I can work in ergonomic and efficient way.
And why is this important?
On the slide you will see the results of inqury made in Denmark about 2 years ago.
1700 dental clinics accounts were analyzed.
What we found out is that 1% of the costs was related to the depreciation of the unit investment.
Whereas 60% was related to salaries, personnel costs.
So I think that if you want to be cost efficient it is much more interesting to look at this then this small one here.
The next subject of Reliability.
XO CARE has been in the business for more than 60 years.
All our workstations are assembled and tested before they are shipped.
And finally we have a three year warranty program.
The last thing about attractiveness.
I will not say that our units are nicer than other units.
I think that is up to you to decide what you think.
But I think that the subject of attractiveness is as important to attract patients, but also for yourself.
Because you have to spend every day, all day, for maybe 20 years with your unit.
So in fact what we think is the most important investment decision.
So with this I hope to have convinced you that we are trying to live our mission extraordinary dentistry.
I would like to thank our dental team Karsten and Ricarda for your help. Thank you very much.
