COMPUTER TV
Alright guys, check this out. I got the NZXT CRYO LX Notebook Cooler here today,
and I'm not a really big notebook user until recently, until I got this gateway.
I gotta tell you guys, when you have a game laptop,
that has on-board graphics or a video card built into it,
they do generate a lot of heat. Especially when you're playing games.
They are optimized to run cool, when you're not playing games,
but hey what happens when you start cranking in crisis,
and like playing on your lap, for like 2 hours in bed?
Well you're gonna get some really high temperatures.
And pretty much this is not the type that you'd have in your bed,
but this is a great laptop cooler and it's the one I've been personally using.
So I figured I'd go ahead and do a video on it. It really caught my attention.
I had a bunch of notebook coolers and out of all of them, this is the one,
that I found, that was at least for me, was the coolest. I love this thing.
It's especially well suited to your non. It's not really for,
your 15" business computer. This is pretty much meant,
for a 17" gaming notebook. It's got an extreme amount of flow,
a lot more than most of them do. There's even ones nowadays,
that are passive. They don't have any fans at all.
They're just made out of aluminium.
They somehow keep it cool, just passively, which is kinda odd,
because these things ... whatever. No big deal.
Let's get to the point of this thing. I'm gonna put it up against,
let's see if I can put it up, against the computer tv thing,
so you can see the fans inside. Yeah check that out.
It's got 3 x 120's in there. So, even right up the back,
you're gonna get a ton of flow out of those things.
If you look right here, oops, see that, right there? That's a fan controller.
A little focus, there we go. So you can control these fans. If they're too loud,
all the way cranked up, hey you can drop it. If you're not doing anything,
you can keep it low or if you wanna crank it up, just crank it up to game.
Also check this out. This thing, the way it's gets power is,
by two methods, well actually by one method. But you get a USB to power,
so pretty much, this will go, right here on the power and then,
this is a USB that will go to any other USB port to give you,
the access to the hub. So you're losing 2 USB ports but,
you're getting a bunch more. You're getting 4 more to be exact.
So, you don't have to worry about losing that.
You don't have to worry about carrying a power cable.
It's all gonna go through USB. Completely powered by USB.
Now, let's talk about the look of this thing.
One of the things I really like about it is that it looks really sleek.
This whole thing is built from aluminum,
and it's black anodised aluminum. So that is very very elegant.
All this right here is a very soft rubber and I'll tell you what,
beyond having rubber, on the top, it has rubber on,
all the feet on the bottom, as you can see,
come over here, or actually, there's one and there's one up here,
and there's one here and this thing does fold,
for easy carrying convenience.
which is nice, it does fold. It's got a little angle to it so,
let's demonstrate the angle. It kinda gives you that perfect,
that perfect amount of angle, that you might be looking for.
Now, watch this. It just sits right there.
That's a great angle for typing. I'll tell you what,
it makes it, very convenient,
if you like having the little legs up on your keyboard.
You're gonna really like having this. It gives you the ability,
to go right here and crank it up, without moving too far.
And then, like I said, rubber topped and rubber bottomed.
That means that you get great stability. So watch.
I'm shaking this thing it's not moving, it's not making sounds,
I mean I am really putting some force in here, to try and move it off.
This is definitely not going to fall off easily either,
the cooler or your laptop, off of the cooler.
Also I'll go ahead and mention that most laptop coolers,
the way they work is the fans actually suck. Now you're thinking,
well, the intake's from the bottom, so why would it suck?
Well, usually what it's doing it's pulling cool air from here,
to keep the bottom, all the air in the bottom cool, so that your laptop's fans,
can suck up the cool air. This one works a little bit differently.
This one pushes air up, so that's blowing cool air into the bottom,
of your laptop cooler. So it worked, fantastic and I'm not just guessing.
I did some tests real quick. Not anything scientific by any means,
but here's what I did. First I turned on the computer.
I left it sitting on the desk and I pulled up an HW Monitor.
Hardware Monitor and I recorded the temps on idle.
Then I played a crisis benchmarking tool loop.
I did 99 loops. I obviously didn't wait the whole 99 loops,
I waited about 5 loops and let it heat up to its' maximum.
I recorded the GPU and the CPU temperatures.
Then, I put it on the notebook cooler and I repeated,
the experiment again. CPU temperature, GPU temperature,
on load and on idle. And then finally, the last thing I did,
it's a kind of a, I guess emulate what it's like, when it's on your bed.
I put it on this T-shirt and I put it on the T-shirt and,
I let it run crisis for about 5, 6 minutes, and I recorded all the temperatures.
So let me go ahead and show you some of these results.
Take a look at, no cooler on idle 40 degrees.
Now on load, it went up to 63 degrees.
So that's impressive. It also went on the GPU,
from 58 degrees, to 74 degrees going on load.
Now, compare that to the amazing drop,
in temperatures. 37 degrees on idle for the CPU,
so it dropped 3 degrees on idle but look at that load.
52 degrees. So it went from 63 to 52.
It dropped 11 degrees centigrade on the CPU just,
by putting it on the cooler, while it was playing crisis.
Looking at the GPU, the results are also impressive.
It went from 58 on idle to 54 on idle,
and it went from 74 degrees on load to 59.
That's 15 degrees centigrade for the video card,
by putting on this cooler, while it's playing crisis.
That's a crazy amount of cooling that's gonna come out.
Coz you know this thing is very efficient.
It's doing its job. It's not just there for show.
It's not just pretty. Beyond the fact that you get,
a USB hub and it's stable, and it gives you,
a nice writing angle. It really will cool your laptop.
And what's that gonna do, it's gonna let,
your laptop last, that much longer.
You don't wanna put heat into your laptop.
It's gonna reduce the lifespan of all the parts,
that are in there, including your video card,
and your CPU, even your memory will last longer.
This is gonna extend the life plus it's gonna keep the room,
you're just gonna feel cooler. I mean, it's great.
You're not gonna have a hot laptop in your lap,
or on your desk. Now, check out the extreme,
extreme version of this. I did the test again,
but on the T-shirt, 48 degrees on idle.
That's very hot, for the CPU,
and 61 degrees on idle for the GPU.
That's also very hot. Looking at load,
68 degrees when it was on load. That's getting really hot,
and the GPU got insane. 80 degrees centigrade,
on the GPU on the T-shirt. That's extremely hot.
From 59 degrees for the GPU, with the cooler,
that's a huge, huge jump. So, 70, 80,
21 degree centigrade drop going from the T-shirt,
to the cooler. 21 degrees. And when you're talking,
about numbers that are in the 80's, that's 25%,
dropping in temperature. So that's very very impressive.
I'll tell you what, the last thing that I'm gonna mention about this,
a lot of you guys out there, have 17" notebooks,
and all the notebook chill mats, and notebook coolers,
none of them seem to be big enough for a 17".
And it's not that you need it sometimes they are,
just kind of, in the middle, but what I really like about this one,
is it definitely does fit a 17", no problem.
And it will fit and it looks great. Again very stable,
this is great for work. I'm using it now on the daily.
I love it so, really really cool product from NZXT.
It's the CRYO LX Cooler, it's affordable,
it's aluminium and it does work very very well.
If you have any questions on it, go ahead and email,
and I will see you guys next time.
