Aloha, I'm Synneve, the great hair guru, and I'm here to show you all of my salon secrets.
Today I want to teach you how to shampoo your hair. Sounds easy, right? Well, it's a little
more complicated than you might think. Many people have never been shown the proper
way to shampoo their hair. Some manufacturers recommend to shampoo rinse and shampoo again.
Unless you have extra oily hair or it's super dirty, these directions aren't necessarily
accurate. Over shampooing can strip your hair of its valuable natural oils. Then you have
to use a lot of conditioner and styling products to replace these oils.
These are the simple steps I recommend when shampooing your hair:
Step 1 - Pick the appropriate shampoo for your hair type. Read the labels carefully
and make sure it suits your hair and its needs. Step 2 - Wet your hair throughout.
Step 3 - Dispense shampoo into the palm of your hand. I recommend to start with a small
amount of shampoo first, then you can add more if you need it. This is better for the
environment and saves you money. For short or fine hair, use a dime-size amount of shampoo.
For thicker or longer hair, you will use a quarter or more.
Step 4 - Apply shampoo throughout your wet hair. Take time to give yourself a relaxing
head massage. Work into a rich lather for at least a minute or more.
Step 5 - Rinse thoroughly and make sure you get all of the shampoo out of your hair.
Follow my simple shampooing steps and you'll be on your way to a great hair day.
