Have you ever wondered how to get involved on campus and get free food, make friends,
do service, and do a ton of other activities, all with some of the nicest people on campus?
Well you should check out the Catholic Student Center at UMD!
Join your Catholic friends for all sorts of events across the campus. We asked a few students
around the Center what they liked best about the CSC!
The community! If you’ve heard anything about the Catholic
Student Association in the past, you probably know about the free Wednesday Night Mass and
Dinners held at the Center. We have around 200 students every week come out to celebrate
Mass and then share a home cooked meal. Besides great food, we also have speakers come in
to share on topics like Does God exist?, sex, marriage and family, faith and
politics, and more! The CSC family also always sends a team to work with Habitat For Humanity
over Winter Break; this year the team went to South Carolina to work on houses for the
less fortunate. We are also present on campus by manning tables in Stamp, presenting a Nativity
scene outside McKeldin at Christmas, and marching in the March For Life in downtown DC.
What’s your favorite part about the CSC? The dance parties!
The social committee at the CSC holds tons of events every year, from dance parties,
movie nights, and Super Bowl parties, to trips downtown and formal dinners during Parents
Weekend. This committee takes your ideas and makes them happen, presenting them for the
CSC community! They prove that faith and fun are most definitely not mutually exclusive.
What do you like best? Jesus!
We all like to have fun, but we always must remember to take time away for our faith.
There is Mass on campus every day, with the Sacrament of Reconciliation also offered every
day, and Adoration a few days a week. These are all held at the Center and at the Memorial
Chapel on campus throughout the day. There are also over 25 student led bible studies
across campus. One of the most popular events every year is the Fall and Spring retreats.
A huge group of students head away to the mountains for 3 days of spiritual growth and
some great fun away from the pressure of exams and work in College Park.
What is the best part about the CSC? Intramurals and fellowship
The Catholic Student Center fields many intramural teams throughout the year, including Football,
Soccer, Basketball, and our own volleyball tournaments. The CSC also has a big presence
at the home basketball games, and also hosts tailgates for every home football game, find
us on the corner near Denton and Oakland Halls on North Campus!
Where is the CSC segment While we are a Roman Catholic community, our
doors are open to everyone! Once again, Mass and Reconciliation are offered
daily by our Pastor, Fr. Rob Walsh. Our weekend mass times during the school year are Saturday
at 5, and Sunday at 10 AM, Noon, and 7 PM. We welcome everyone to attend any of those
Masses, and our weekly Mass and Dinner on Wednesday nights at 5:30. So what are you
waiting for?! Check out www.catholicterps.org for more information, and we hope to see you
soon!
