Bizarrely, if you picked up lots of modules from around the university,
they would all use the same stock phrases
so in your box on the template for Teaching and Learning
you’d see this module comprises of a number of lectures
and seminars and workshops. End.
Well what does that tell you?
What does that tell the students?
So that isn’t a design at all – that doesn’t tell you what the student does
and for me the key thing about the curriculum design
is that it should tell the student what they are going to be doing.
It’s all about the student’s activities
and yet those documents barely mention what the students do.
It’s all about the syllabus and the learning outcomes
that relate to that syllabus,
but they don’t actually say what the students do!
