Create a new computed column to your existing data set
A lot of times the data that you get doesn't have the final information that you need or
it’s in there but not exposed in a way you can use for the analytics you want to do.
What you want is to actually compute a column on the fly. That's a very easy thing to do
in Paxata. Click the "Add computed columns" button on the left rail, and you have the
ability to either enter an expression or see, by clicking on the calculator, all of the
different functions that Paxata provides.
You have the ability to compute averages, the ability to look at the length of a string,
the ability to even use more complex functionality like regular expressions, or even to round
data and calculate standard deviations. It's very easy to use these functions. Add the
name of the new column that you want to create, click on the "add as" button, and on the fly,
Paxata will create a new computed column for you based on the source data that you have.
All it takes is clicking on the "add computed column" button, using the pre-existing functions,
and away you go.
