It's not about me, I'm just a recorder. I just happen to be the person who may
come in contact with some people, and
their stories just need to be told.
I just happened to introduce myself to Robert, going just walking around. When
the storm levees broke he was on top of his roof
with his family.
Their house
actually started
to float. It got uprooted.
And they were having to jump to
another roof of another house.
But his mother did not make it.
His mother drowned. His granddaughter
lost her balance on top of the house,
and also drowned.
You cannot imagine the emotional
devastation
and how broken these people are.
As well as how their lives have just been ravaged.
The loss of work,
the loss of your home, the loss of loved ones.
Being around him I just saw this determination
and this belief,
that things would just get better.
He, and that was so impressive,
when
everything else around him is gone.
There's no neighbors, there's no life,
there's no grocery stores, there's no
transportation.
It is, just seems like it's a,
the town has lost its soul and like the hope is
really gone.
But these people are still there.
