To take full advantage of your Samsung Smart TV you will need to be connected to an internet connection.
2012 Samsung Smart TVs can connect via a wired or LAN connection, or via a wireless LAN connection.
Several 2012 Samsung Smart TVs have built-in Wireless LAN adapters.
If your TV does NOT have a built-in Wireless LAN, you will need the Samsung USB Wireless LAN adapter.
We'll demonstrate both methods of connecting to a network on a 2012 Samsung Smart TV.
To connect your Samsung Smart TV to a wired internet connection,
first connect a LAN cable with an active connection to the LAN port on the back of your TV.
Now on your Samsung remote, press the Menu button. Select the Network Menu, and choose Network Settings.
Now select Start to configure the connection. The TV will test the Wired Internet connection.
If your modem is set to assign a random IP address, the connection should be successful.
However, if the test fails and you need to input the LAN settings manually, select IP Settings.
Now select IP mode, and choose Manual.
Then using your remote's number pad, select each field and enter the proper IP Address,
Subnet Mask, Gateway Address, and DNS Server.
If you do not know this information, contact your network administrator or your internet provider.
Select OK once complete.
The TV will test the network connection, and once complete you will see two green check marks on either side of the Modem Icon.
Select OK to finish.
Now we'll demonstrate how to setup a Wireless LAN connection.
First, be sure there is no LAN cable plugged into the TV.
Now if your TV requires it, insert the Samsung USB Wireless LAN Adapter to the USB1 port on the back of your TV.
Using your TV remote, navigate to the Network Settings Menu.
Then select Start to configure the connection.
Your TV will search for available wireless access points in range of the TV.
If your access point does not appear, be sure your TV is within the suggested range of the router, and select Refresh to search again.
Once your access point appears, select it and choose Next.
If the access point is a secure connection and requires a password
enter the password by scrolling and selecting each number and letter, then choose Next.
Your TV will now check the wireless network connection.
Once the connection is established the screen will read
"Your wireless network and internet connection are setup and ready to use".
Select OK to finish.
You can now begin using many of the Smart features on your Samsung Smart TV.
