It's time for another pure, uncut dose of entertainment news.
It's Oscar time again, and there's been a lot of talk over
who will take home the award for best actor.
With the biggest buzz, of course, surrounding the veteran actor Leaf
who has been in more than 70 of Hollywood's best loved films
portraying metaphors for everything from nature's splendor
to loneliness and isolation.
Onion News Network, Hollywood correspondent
Autumn Stanford is here with more. -Hey, Angelique.
What's up, Autumn? I have to say I'm a huge fan of this Leaf.
Is it finally the Leaf's year, come on?
You know, a lot of people think that it just might be
Angelique. It's nominated for its role in Terrence Malick's film
"The Tree of Life." -I loved that. -Where it earned big props
for playing a symbol of the beautiful but finite nature of existence.
You know what, the Leaf has been nominated for Best Actor five times,
never won, Autumn. What's the deal? -Right?
But this year I think the Leaf's really got a good chance.
I mean, I was completely transformed.
According to director Terrence Malick, to prepare for "The Tree of Life"
the Leaf spent three months slowly withering on its branch
and dropping a quarter of its body weight
so that its brittle stem would snap on cue. -Wow!
That is dedication. -I know. -You know,
a lot of people thought the Leaf should've won last year
with "Winter's Bone." -My god. -But in an interview I did with him
after last year's awards ceremony it was obvious
he was not taking the loss well. -Leaf, there was a lot of talk
that you would be a shoe in for the Best Actor award.
Are you disappointed that the prize went to Colin? Leaf?
I'm sorry.
Well, to be honest,
this is exactly where this Leaf gets itself into trouble.
Some people think that it's actually been overlooked by the Academy
because it has a reputation for being difficult to work with.
Yes, but it has with actors, directors, crew, everyone.
The infamous blowout with Gus Van Sant
on the "Good Will Hunting" set. -I know.
But still, you know, other people think that it's the Leaf's politics
that have actually gotten him passed over for an Oscar.
Well, you know what, as far as I'm concerned,
the Oscar should be about acting, and this Leaf can act.
I agree. -Well, I can't wait to see what happens.
Thank you Autumn. -Thank you, Angelique.
Alright, now it's time for the Gross Alert.
Do you know which celebrity has this pair of chunky knees?
If you guessed Kate Beckinsale, you're right.
Boy, has she let herself go in the knee department. Gross.
