Meet Zulema and Juan Carlos.
Two young Bolivians who have been selected to participate in a preparational basic course.
The course will prepare them for an apprenticeship
in the Food School that IBIS and Claus Meyer will be opening in La Paz, Bolivia in 2012.
Hello, my name is Zulema Paco Saire.
I like this course because I would like to help my family.
My family has eight members and I’m the oldest of my brothers and sisters.
My father is the only one in the family who works and that’s why I would like to help him
Because my mother is sick and my sisters are going to school.
When I was little my father got sick and we suffered a lot.
My mother started making bread and I went with her to sell the bread
So we do know something about bread.
My name is Juan Carlos Cruz Mamani. I’m 21 years old.
The reason why I applied for this scholarship which they have given us,
is that it gives me more opportunities and it will make me a better person.
I was abandoned when I was very little.
It is difficult for me to live together with my family now that I have returned to my home.
The best thing that has happened to me is graduating from highschool,
because most of family has never graduated - just one person
I’m very proud to conclude that part of my life.
Right now I’m very happy because I’m entering a new part of my life
within my studies.
