90% of Venezuelans find it easy or very easy to vote with Smartmatic Technology
We’ve worked for the past 2 years with a pollster you all know, Datanálisis.
Basically, one of the things we wanted to do was demystify things being said about Smartmatic and the automated voting system,
and understand if that perception was massive or restricted to niches in certain sectors of the population.
We got several curious results from this analysis.
First (the one that surprises me and pleases me most) is that 90% of the Venezuelan population thinks
that it is “easy” or “very easy” to vote with our machines.
I don’t know if this has happened to you, but I’ve heard several times people saying
“if you know how to use an ATM, you should be able to vote”.
It so happens that banks carry out a poll every year to gauge how easy it is for the population to use an ATM;
let’s remember that ATM’s are relatively standardized as far as their use.
The figure of people who believe using an ATM is easy is far below the figure of people
who think voting with us is easy: 40% of the population
think it is “easy” or “very easy” to use an ATM, while 90% think it is “easy” or “very easy” to use our voting system.
Other myth that, in my opinion, has disappeared (assuming that it was ever pervasive) is that our technology was outdated:
70% of the population in Venezuela consider that our technology is cutting-edge,
and 75% prefer e-voting over manual voting, that is 8 out of every 10 Venezuelans.
