I’m Bruce Frame and this is your One Minute on Business. Today I want to talk to you about
identity. Your identity is made up of a multitude of different influences but they’re an iceberg.
Most of those are under the water.
Above the water, we’ve got your behavior and that’s made up from your decisions and
your actions.
Below the water line, the biggest contributor; Skills. What do you know? What do you have?
How do you make it work?
Below that; Beliefs. What do you believe to be true? That doesn’t make it true but if
you believe it, that’s good enough.
Your beliefs come from your values. Your values you get from your family. What is important
to you and how do you make that work?
Below that is your identity and it’s really a sum of the others. It’s what you think
of yourself. It’s what you see when you look in the mirror but the whole thing floats
around the sea of your environment. What is your environment doing to you and how can
you change it?
So if you want to change the bit above the water line, work on the bit below the water
line and think about what environment that it’s all in. Have a great day.
