Will I regret my tattoo?
Yes. If you have to ask that question, yes, you will.
I haven’t actually gotten one yet.
Oh, thank God or goddess or whatever you kids believe these days.
What is your opinion of tattoos? It’s a popular form of expression these days.
If you want to express yourself, dye your hair. At the worst, it’ll get shaved off
and re-grow in six months.
What is your advice if I do get a tattoo?
Never get a tattoo of someone’s name. When the relationship is over, it usually gets
turned into a black panther.
I could get a tattoo of a star I like.
Don’t get a tattoo of a celebrity; it ages worse than your skin. At least a tattoo of
“mother” is eternally understandable.
Do you want me to get a mother tattoo? I could pair it with a nice rose on my wrist -
No! Tattoos aren’t a fashion statement; they’re a permanent stamp on your body.
I could have it removed.
You can have laser treatment to have the tattoos removed, but that leaves discolored areas
on your body left behind after the tattoo is burned off.
Does it hurt?
Yes, getting a tattoo removed hurts. It hurts worse than the application of the tattoo.
Where shouldn’t I get a tattoo?
Don’t get a tattoo on your face, your hands, your neck or anywhere easily seen if you are
dressed up for a job interview. Many employers will hold it against you.
I’m not going to make it that obvious. Maybe one on my leg or shoulder or somewhere hidden
by clothing.
Imagine a tattoo on your stomach stretched out by pregnancy. Or a tattoo on your chest
or arms warped by sagging skin or body fat.
Oh, gross!
Why can’t you be happy with temporary tattoos like the kids play with? Or go get decorated
with henna designs, since those fade away and can be changed.
I might not like the pattern after a few days.
And tattoos are even more permanent!
