Now, the next thing I want to talk about is your nutrition during the race. So, obviously,
right now I'm sitting on my trainer talking to you about it, but it's very important to
make sure you have enough liquids and nutrition with you on the bike. If you're doing a shorter
race, like a criterion race, or a time trial, you want to make sure that you have your bottle
with your sports drink in it. And it's going to be up to you and your body as to how much
you drink. I myself don't drink that much during a shorter race, but that doesn't mean
that I don't need it. I think sometimes that I just get excited about the race. But if
I were to do a road race, and I'm going to be riding for 50 miles, you better bet that
I'm going to have some sports drink, water bottle in the back cage, going to have some
gels in the back of my jersey, maybe a sports bar, something to keep me energized during
the race. You certainly want to stay ahead of the game, don't wait to drink until you're
dying of thirst because then it's too late. And, always consider what you might need for
what you're going to do. Definitely if you're doing a road race, especially think about
-- if I'm on my bike for an hour or 60 miles, I'm going to need to keep myself fueled. And
don't make the mistake of shorting yourself on your liquids. That is so important.
