Good evening.
Welcome to this public
presentation of the Red Ciudadana Partido X.
We are here this evening to tell you what this citizen movement is about
We are going to tell you who we are,
which goals we have and how we are going to accomplish them.
It is important to know
how this movement is growing,
because it's unstoppable, it's absolutely original
in its methods and in the results it could achieve.
Every person who is going to speak has prepared a brief speech to explain this project.
I'm Ruben, from Burgos
and I hand over the floor to another colleague who will provide more details.
I'm Fernando, from Málaga.
This presentation today was made
possible thanks to crowdfunding.
we have used "Lanzanos"
which is a
web-based platform
for crowd-sourced fundraising.
In less than 48 hours
we collected enough money to be able to organize this event.
All expenditures
and all related
receipts
can be found
on our web site. The Red Ciudadana Partido X,
as everybody can see,
is only responsible
to the citizens.
Thank you very much. Good evening, I'm Patri, from Málaga
and I'm going to explain you briefly who we are.
So far, we've been a faceless movement. Traditional parties have always
shown us their faces and that hasn't prevented them from stealing and lying to all of us.
This is about taking co-responsability as citizens in the change we deserve and need.
No one will do it for us.
We've been asked to tell who we are.
Some of us are going to speak today, but many others are doing important things in order
to carry out this project. So far there are 13 territorial nodes in
different cities around the country.
This network is growing and is being replicated in more and more places.
In addition to the people who are here, and those participating through the nodes,
there are many others that you can find
in the paragraph "who are we" in our website.
They are some of the people coordinating the different working areas,
supported by many others, whose tasks are less demanding.
Roles are changing according to availability, ability, dedication.
So
People are very important but it's more important what we can do together.
Good evening, my name is Armando.
If you came to see candidates, that is not here.
Our goal is creating the conditions so that no more elections will be done without us,
without the citizens.
What you are going to see today is a citizen network, which is set to work in order to achieve
what we are resolved to do:
"change History".
We're the unexpected in their electoral agenda,
the variable that changes everything. "Citizens took the streets to demand changes in the political and financial system
and politicians said citizens must be heard. A loud and clear
message has been sent.
We can agree that our system isn't perfect, but anyway
I want to convey that...
there is no alternative to the current democratic functioning
and the democratic functioning needs political parties. We must value the
people who demonstrate, but we specially must value what it's inside the ballot boxes.
Because that is democracy, it is not just an exhibition of people in
the streets".
Well, if you say so.
The variable that changes everything is citizens getting organised according to
a minimal, transversal and non-ideological agreement,
that banishes from the stage people who caused the crisis and their
political accomplicies.
We are proposing
a method
to catalyze the best proposals that civil society has already created
and to make democracy operational.
Hello, I'm Joaquín.
Much has already been discussed and debated by the civil society,
and by the scientific community.
So much, that there are excellent proposals to solve the situation,
that only need to be carried out
and that only governments prevent them to be carried out.
This has to happen now. We have a road map since the beginning,
and around this road map,
of citizens' solutions, we got together to build a citizens' movement
Red Ciudadana is a workspace,
a moving train travelling at maximum speed in order to achieve
what we announced we would do
and to get it right now.
In order to do that, it's mandatory to think out of the cages where they want to lock us in.
We are neither left nor right wing, We do not work horizontally nor vertically.
We work in a network, federating competences and optimizing our
implication and work.
This movement grows around this cohesive and coherent work,
but it doesn't do it spontaneously.
People learn from the already-existing solutions,, they never start from zero.
they are immersed in a diverse but synchronized network
This is why this movement is unstoppably growing
There is an average of 300 new subscriptions per week
on the Agenda X, it's our informative diary
There are peaks of 1000 subscriptions on days like today. There is no affiliation, just work.
Branched by affinity, there are other spaces too. For example, the matrix groups,
organized through a forum,
where there are currently 165 active users.
We have general or node kernel groups,
whose members have been working longer or spent more time in the project,
and they all centralize the work we do on the network.
What you're seeing is a "pad".
It is a tool that allows us to work collaboratively,
and to write simultaneously from anywhere.
This is how we work, we think it is not the only way
to work
but we want to do it this way.
We don't discuss how to do something a thousand of times, we just do it.
Not everybody has to like it,
but we are going to do it until the end.
Thank you very much.
Hello, good evening, I'm Puerto and I take part through the node in Zaragoza.
We're going to achieve what we call the "Democracy that's it":
it means 21st Century Democracy. We're going to have tools to be able to control
and monitor our politicians, governments and institutions, and in that way
we'll to be able to make decisions about things... that affect us.
Once we achieve "Democracy that's it", we should be able to take the rest of decisions
into the frame of a real democracy, in which
citizens will handle sovereignity and exercise the power
Hello, good evening. I am Maria, and I want to explain something more about the "Democracy-That's it" concept.
"Democracy that's it" means extending the general consensus, in order to reduce
the dissent during the political decision-making process, in the draft bills and
during the approval of laws.
This method, "Democracy that's it", contains four main mechanisms.
- Transparency in the public management is the prerequisite.
If citizens do not have access to the information, democracy is impossible.
The referendum is the mechanism to close great relevance issues and
Legislative Civil Initiatives.
We also claim the legislative civil power and the executive civil power
which are already being used in other parts of the world, and that we as well use to
elaborate all our projects.
The right to vote in a real and permanent way is the only one that has not
been applied yet,
although no major legal changes would be necessary to put it into
practice. Just political will.
Juan will explain this to all of us.
When we talk of permanent and real vote,
What we try to achieve is that one of the fundamental articles from
in the Spanish Constitution: the article 23. It recognizes everybody's right
to participate in political matters directly or indirectly through
our legal representatives.
We want this to be finally real and effective. The permanent vote means that
us, the citizens, could at any moment and when we decide so
step in to vote the decisions that we believe affect us and that can
indeed influence our lives.
This doesn't mean removing the representative democracy.
It means expanding this democracy that actually is restricted to few,
it means "Democracy -That's it".
It means we can all participate in it.
It is necessary to start this so that legislators know that we are there and
we could reject any decision that goes against our interests.
They will think twice before doing what they are doing. Not only in
Spain but also in other Countries, they are taking unpopular measures.
Gentlemen, we are the people, do not take rough measures against us. This is not
the reason why we chose you. Thank you.
I'm Xavi
from Majorca.
Citizens must have the tools
to control democracy.
The tools are here;
We must just take them
and make them work.
Even for one of the most alarming emergencies, the economic one,
we need democracy.
Economic Democracy, in this case.
The actual system is bursting: the multinational corporations,
in collusion with governments,
exploit us as slaughterhouse meat.
Crises are always a good excuse
to get cheap and desesperate workforce
for those corporations
with no other principle
than money.
This workforce
is the vast majority of the population.
Sometimes we are workers, sometimes we are self-employers,
sometimes small bussinessmen,
officials, unemployed or pensioners.
Sometimes we can be all this in a small time lapse.
And, as usual,
their laws are made to exploit us, divide us and play aganist us,
when we are all the same.
We have the capability
to create together,
the conditions to generate employment
and to have a life that deserves to be lived.
Citizens are the main actors in the real economy,
with enough talents and influence
to demand
an economy for the people.
We feel compelled to get to this goal
so we will do it,
whether they like it or not.
Iñaki will explain how.
If on one hand, we want to
put an end to the arrogance, to the squanders and to the corruption,
on the other hand, we are aiming to change the economical model that is favoring the exploitation
and the impoverishment of the many for the benefit of a few.
We value
what we can do and what is worth using.
The best-educated generation in our history and, consequently,
its ability to innovate,
is leaving the country.
We need to stop it.
We must take advantage of this potential.
We already have the necessary basis
and, in order to accomplish this,
we will open civic commissions to promote work.
The role of these commissions is to guard
and follow the amendments in their process to become new laws.
The people participating in the Red Ciudadana will be part of these commissions
along with independent experts as guarantors.
The first commission
has been already announced and it is working
It is composed by Hervé Falciani,
a computer specialist who made public a list
of tax evaders and who is currently collaborating with governments
in the fight against corruption;
Raúl Burillo Pacheco, a Tax Inspector,
with a key role in cases such as PalmaArena, Loos and Maquillaje.
15mpaRato,
a collective of citizens who moved against Rodrigo Rato and 33 others in the Bankia case;
and Antonio Moreno.
Antonio has been 18 years complaining about electric companies
infrigements in the electricity bills. We have now
shed light on
what we are working on,
and we want to tell you that this is what we are truly going to do.
We think the time of the citizens has finally come
and we believe we have the conditions to fulfill this objective.
And now Jaime Miquel,
an independent electoral analyst expert, is going to tell us why
these conditions really exist.
Well, what's happening? We are in front of
the crisis of an entire system so,
after 36 years of democracy, both politicians and political parties
became the core of all problems, as they sunk institutions'
reputation and prestige.
PP party has lost
4'4 millon votes since 2008,
PSOE 6'5 millon votes since the same year,
Abstention has increased to 7'6 millons and the balance corresponds to
the votes gained by other parties: 1 and a half million votes to Izquierda Unida,
1 million 600 thousand to UPyD and 1 million to others (including blank ballot papers).
A new electoral space arose: the civil space, the break-up,
common to all South-European societies
and to all those indebted Countries in the South.
Well, I've been recording numbers about elections for thirty years,
I've worked for almost all parties.
I'm well-known, if anyone wants to...
the parties know me.
I work for them.
I know that a citizen candidacy,
that gathers
that space, that space of rupture,
can easily get one million fifty thousand votes in the next
European elections, and this means having five MEP (Members of the European Parlament).
You, the Red Ciudadana, the Future Party, are giving to politics
a XXI Century method.
You are giving to citizens a way to obtain an unadulterated and
independent representation: the "Democracy-That's it" method.
Nowadays, its value is incalculable. Red Ciudadana symbolizes the
coincidental representation method,
and this is why your candidacy is the most suitable to
re-organize this space of rupture.
You are contributing to the electoral expression of the civil avant-garde,
to the electoral introduction of connected crowds.
Your method is scientific, reliable, and I encourage you to run for
elections right now. You are implementing a technological system
of direct democracy in real time,
neither more nor less.
Well, that is
extraordinary, isn´t it? And the truth is that I can see you are really going to do it.
count on me for the electoral formulation and I will guide you through it in the
easiest way.
Thank you very much,
this is Jaime Miquel.
Thank you very much, Jaime, for your valuable contribution.
It's time to stop talking about
what is going to happen and start talking about what we are going to do.
We are already coping with the consequences of leaving issues as important as
democracy, economy, housing, health care, education or science
in the hands of politicians.
It is time to retrieve all this: democracy needs to be rescued.
In the last years, millions of outraged people have managed to
to team up and build a great community consensus.
But we have not reached the final objective of banishing them and recovering our sovereignty.
We want to get out of the pit in which they put us.
Never again the political class will take decisions against the interest of the majority.
Never again there'll be elections without us,
without you,
without citizens.
Never again we'll see elections where the main topics are issues that benefit only them,
instead of talking about the real problems we have.
If we need to run for election and win to achieve this, we will. Some people say it is
difficult, and it's true.
We must work hard and diligently.
Some people say we should wipe the slate clean, we should start over, and we are going to do that,
it has to be done.
Let’s start with the easiest, something possible
and the most logical: let’s get rid of them
For dignity, for justice,
even though we do it just for that, this is a relentless wish and a relentless movement
In this fight for dignity we have nothing to lose,
we can only win.
Because this time nobody wins if we don't all win.
Thank you very much.
