[Junk Cars ATL]: Junk car fans, we are in a Lilburn, Georgia. We are looking at 1999
Toyota...
[Customer]: Forerunner.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Forerunner. Toyota Forerunner. How you doing man?
[Customer]: Good, how about yourself?
[Junk Cars ATL]: Ahhh, pretty good. The car doesn’t look to good though.
[Customer]: Nope, nope.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Let’s see. The body is damaged on this side. Looks like a pretty
bad accident.
[Customer]: Yeah.
[Junk Cars ATL]: So, what happened?
[Customer]: Umm, I'd actually just purchased this car. I've had it for 1 month. This was
actually my dream car, I love these cars.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Uh huh.
[Customer]: And I was ah.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Why do you love it?
[Customer]: I've always loved this body style Forerunner.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Alright.
[Customer]: I know it’s a good car. I didn’t have a whole lot of money to pay for a car.
So, I bought it with cash.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Uh huh.
[Customer]: Knowing that it would last me a long time.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Right.
[Customer]: And um, a month after I bought it.
[Junk Cars ATL]: A month?
[Customer]: A month.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Wow!
[Customer]: I was transporting my grandmother. She has moved to a new home. And she ahh,
is obsessed with Christmas. So while I was transporting her and her Christmas decorations
to her new home.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Haha, let’s see said Christmas, Christmas decorations.
[Customer]: You can see the decorations ruined at the back.
[Junk Cars ATL]: There’s a lot of nice stuff right here. Merry Christmas junk car fans.
[Customer]: Yeah, they’re all over 285. Anyway to make the long story short, we were
on 285 heading to her new home in Sandy Springs.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Right.
[Customer]: And ah, they had one of the worst storms I have driven in and I was probably
going 10-20 miles an hour and the car hydroplaned and we actually...
[Junk Cars ATL]: You were going that slow and hydroplaned?
[Customer]: We were. It was amazing because it actually increased probably 5 fold when
I started hydroplaning up to probably 60 miles an hour. We did a full U on 285, missed every
car.
[Junk Cars ATL]: How many people were in the car?
[Customer]: It was... I was the driver, my grandmother was the passenger.
[Junk Cars ATL]: OK.
[Customer]: Man, 79 year-old grandmother at that time.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Oh, your grandma.
[Customer]: And my dog, my bulldog Hank in the backseat.
[Junk Cars ATL]: So how did everybody do after the accident?
[Customer]: Believe it or not, everyone was fine. We had our seat belts on. We the wall
stopped us, thank God. And um, another car was right behind us. We were facing an oncoming
traffic and someone stopped to basically save us. I was prepared to be hit head on, and
we were up against the wall. My grandmother was unable to get out of that car so they
actually, you know, fire rescued. Actually, pulled her, put her on a stretcher and pull
her out of the car. My dad came, and the officers actually stopped traffic on 285, so I could
walk over my dog to my dad. I came out without a scratch to be honest with you.
[Junk Cars ATL]: And how’s your grandmother doing?
[Customer]: Luckily, she went to the hospital, was checked-up because of here age, but she
came out without a scratch as well.
[Junk Cars ATL]: And the dog?
[Customer]: The dog was perfect.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Wow! That's nuts.
[Customer]: And ah, 2 months later I researched and researched and bought in another one just
like it.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Ah OK.
[Customer]: One year newer and 10,000 more miles.
[Junk Cars ATL]: OK.
[Customer]: So, that’s the story.
[Junk Cars ATL]: So, ah...
[Customer]: Lucky to be alive, to be honest with you. It was a pretty serious accident.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Yeah, a lot of people I've bought... I've bought some cars where the
whole car is kinda crushed and when we look inside the car you can see blood on the seat
and on the steering wheel, hair sometimes. People, you know, a lot of people die in car
accidents like this.
[Customer]: Sure, you’re exactly right. We were very lucky.
[Junk Cars ATL]: On a lighter note, we’re gonna take a look at this junk car, see if
it can crank up and run. See, we got to jump start its battery so, we’ve got the jump
box on it. It’s 12.6 volts. All we need is 12 volts. We’re gonna... Whoa, whoa wasps
over here buddy. See these wasps? Anyway, crank the car up. Well, it cranked up. It's
got 189,000 miles. OK.
[Junk Cars ATL]: Wow, there’s a wasp in there. Whoa, I dropped my phone! A wasp tried
to attack me! It's running. All right junk car fans, we’re gonna see what we can do
with this car.
