Hello everyone Michael here with the daily note 2 and 3 YouTube channel today I have
a very good tip for you guys and this is for just in case you happen to lose your phone
or maybe just misplace it in the future and you'll have this option to work with
so go to your settings and then scroll down to security
and scroll down to device administrators and what I want you to enable it is android device
manager this is something new that Google has put together and it works with the Google
play store so let's see how this works
so open up your web browser and go to Google play which is play.google.com and then go
to the settings icon and go to android device manager
and if you have had more than one device you might need to choose the right device out
of here so I'm going to choose my galaxy note 2 it's going to take a few seconds but it's
going to try to show you its last known location so you see that there are three options available
here and these options would not be available if you didn't enable that checkmark on your
galaxy note 2 before he lost it so it's a good option to have set
so this first option ring I don't really need to show you but it's going to ring your galaxy
note 2 like someone had just called it at full volume
so if you just misplaced your device and it's been between the couch cushions you're going
to be able to find it so it's nice tool now this second one is interesting
let's try this one lock keep your eye on the galaxy note 2 screen
when I click on the lock button let's set a password and I'm going to set
1234 just for demo purposes you want to set something that you can't forget
but it probably should be something other than 1234 because everyone's gonna try that
so I'm going to click on the lock button and pay attention to the screen on the galaxy
note 2 and there you go it shut off the screen immediately
and were going to try to turn it on and there we go
it has the number lock set and you just need to type in the password
you have set and for just for kicks I'm going to type in
the wrong and nothing happens when you type in the right password
there you go and it's not a temporary password that you put and it vanishes
it's actually your new unlock pattern now so you might want change that back to something
that you were using before and this last option erase if you know your
device has been stolen and you have some really critical information in there
you can enable this option and it should but I'm just going to trust that this works
because other options seems to work well anyway that's the end of this short video
so yeah just set it and forget it and if you happen to lose or misplace your device know
where to go from now on to find it quickly and I just want to mention this should probably
work with most android devices because it's made by google. Now if you have the galaxy
s4 or the note 3, there is a better option by Samsung. And it is something built into
the OS so you don't have to really enable it. And you have more options but I'll show
you that in another video. so if you haven't subscribed yet please subscribe
for more upcoming videos and make sure you check out my other videos on the galaxy note
2 and once again thank you for watching
