Root canal is an issue that we deal with a lot in our practice.
Let me now just show you two cases from
which we took two different approaches.
In the first case I'll show you the x-ray
of an infected tooth. This is why we need to take X-rays because at the base
and around the tooth,
you'll see a shadow. That shadow indicates that bone has been lost around a
tooth and often that will be filled with
infected material. So we then embarked with patient who had a very healthy
immune system with otherwise in excellent health
we did a root canal treatment to the best of our ability.
Measuring the length of the tooth, cleaning it out, washing it out,
putting an antiseptic dressing in and filling it and then we took an xray
12 months later. This is the x-ray 12 months later.
You'll notice that bone has been regenerated
Quality of the bone around the tooth is the same. So the question we ask ourselves is
has something positive going on here? Clearly it has.
Bone has gone from an infected state, on an X-ray at least,
to and a healthy state on an x-ray.
So with a healthy immune system we felt that this was an appropriate treatment
for this patient. Now let me share with you another case.
