Hello, I would like to welcome you to our Autism Spectrum Disorder Added Authorization
Program. My name is Donna Rudford I will be your Cadre instructor for your 4 classes in
our program and wanted to tell you a bit of my background. I have worked with students
who have special needs for over 25 years and have been teaching in SDUSD for the last 16
years. My Master's Program thesis was related to sensory integration and autism and my passion
has been for our students who have autism. In my off time I enjoy camping and spend most
summers visiting my son in Portland Oregon, and visiting the beautiful Oregon coast. My
dream is to retire and travel for 2 years in a travel trailer while working as a camp
host and interpretive center guide. My son does not share my love for sleeping in a tent
as he is a techie and cannot part with his beloved computer. He currently works as a
web developer and programmer as well as starting an online business called TRAKT. He is a great
guy and I am very proud of the man he has become.
During enrollment, you were given a tour of our website and the current class syllabus.

Our office hours are 9-5 and we are located on the campus of Taft Middle School. Weekends
I am available by phone or email and am happy to help in any way. Carla and I are looking
forward to the coaching piece of this program and want to make sure you are not stressed
about coursework. Our goal is to help you understand autism and come away from our classes
with a "toolbox" of materials and resources for your classrooms.
