In November 2005 a demonstration in memoriam of the last 5 executed in Franco's regime,
was reported to the National Court for terrorism exaltation.
Thanks for being here. We are going to read the communiqué of the Coordinadora antifascista.
We want to manifest that these will be the only declaration we will do,
thus there won't be questions admitted.
Here my colleague will start
Anti-fascist demonstration: Memory, Dignity and Struggle
On July 18th of 1936, General Francisco Franco leads the coup d'état against the government of the Second Republic . . .
. . . provoking the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.
A totalitarian state will harmonize in Spain.
The functioning of all capacities and energies of the country,
in which, within national unity, work, reckon as the most unavoidable duty,
will be the only exponent of popular will.
Supported by Hitler and Mussolini, Franco manages to win the Republicans Anarchists
who where fighting against the establishment of a totalitarian and fascist regime,
. . . which in the end was imposed by means of blood and fire.
500.000 refugees
40.000 disappear
1 million political prisoners
111 concentration camps between 1936 and 1972
320.000 assassinated by Franco's repression
30.000 executed
Prohibition of all political association
Spain... ONE!!
Spain... GREAT!!
Spain... FREE!!
And valuing with all objectivity the conditions gathered in the person of prince don Juan Carlos de Borbón y Borbón,
who belonging to the dynasty which reign Spain during several centuries,
has clearly shown loyalty to the regime's principles and institutions,
he is tightly linked to the land, sea and air army, where he forged his character,
and in the last 20 years he's been perfectly prepared for the high mission he could be called for.
On the other hand, in gathering all the conditions determined by the Article 11 of the succession law of the State Authority,
I have decided to propose him to our mother country as mi successor.
Well, having been in the former regime, and I don't mind to say so at all…
In 1969, Franco, along with the most ultra sector of the bourgeoisie and the army, designates Juan Carlos as his successor leading the State Authority.
The king, who - according to the dictator - forged his character in Franco's armed forces, starts participating in politics helping the head of the government, Carrero Blanco.
Besides, he became provisional Head of State while the dictator was ill.
In July of 1969, Franco communicates don Juan Carlos he will be his successor.
He accepts… He accepts.
In July 22nd, he tells the Parliament
Since don Juan Carlos was designated prince of Spain,
admiral Carrero settled matters periodically with him.
And when he took on presidency,
he consulted with don Juan Carlos the list of his new government.
New Government
I am totally identified with the political work of the Caudillo (leader).
My loyalty to his person and his work is total, clear and clean.
I equally declare my loyalty with same clarity and cleanness (purity)
to the prince of Spain, his successor…
Franco left the king as heir. While still alive, Franco appointed his heir, his natural successor, the king,
in year 69 -I think it was…- when the king, pledging allegiance to the fundamental principles of the national movement
and Franco's laws, he assumed such inheritance of the State Authority.
And… as a matter of fact, he practiced during some time while Franco was at the hospital before his death.
He practiced as Head of State in a moment when the executions of September 27th….
So that's that, he is absolute responsible of the dictatorship
Franco said it crystal clear: Everything remains tied up and well tied up.
In 1975, the rise of popular movements joins the strong international criticism in protest for the 5 last executions of the Regime in September 27th
In the midst of such tense atmosphere, Francisco Franco dies the 20th of November.
After claiming the fascist regime, the King assumes its continuity pledging allegiance to its laws as the successor of the dictator at the Head of the State.
TV news, 1st edition.
Franco is dead.
The Government informs
Attention, Spanish, president of government don Carlos Arias Navarro speaking.
Spanish, Franco has died.
Occurring the vacancy in the State Authority, prince don Juan Carlos de Borbón y Borbón
will take the oath and will be proclaimed king by the Spanish Parliament.
An exceptional figure enters History.
The name of Francisco Franco will already be a stage of the Spanish happening
and a milestone to which it will be impossible not to refer
to in order to understand the key of our contemporary political life.
With respect and gratitude I want to remember the figure
of whom during so many years assumed the heavy duty
of guiding the government of the State.
If we all stay united, we will have gained the future.
Hurrah for Spain!
Hurrah!
Hurrah for Spain!
Hurrah for Spain!
Hurrah for Spain!
Hurrah for Spain!
Always hurrah for Spain! Always hurrah for Spain!
Long live Franco!
Long live!
I swear to God and the Holy Gospel to obey and make obey the fundamental laws of the Reign
and to be loyal to the principles that shape the national movement.
Monarchy, either we take it or not, is an anachronism;
it is a medieval institution that does not agree with any democratic system.
Monarchy was imposed to us, the people of the East of Spain. A monarchy chosen by Fanco.
A king who had been educated, formed and elected by the dictator Francisco Franco.
Lets imagine what would be said, what would happen if Italy had a Head of State appointed by Mussolini,
or Germany had a head of state designated by Hitler.
Well, there you have. Although it sounds hard and demagogic/pamphletistic that's what we actually have here, it's the truth.
Dear attorneys, dear councillors, from the emotion in the memory of Franco…
Long live the King! Hurrah for Spain!
After the strong pressure inside and outside the regime,
the upper bourgeoisie promoted the so called Transition towards democracy in order to dismantle the popular agitation,
to keep political control and to drive the system to more capitalist politics with higher benefits.
The process of Transition was an agreement amongst the oligarchies and parties self called left;
and it meant treason to the working class.
It was created through the Constitution and the Moncloa Agreements, and thus,
it was not a democratic process, no, it was not such thing at all…
The Transition was precisely that, wasn't it? To agree a silence law,
to agree a full stop law with the responsible for the assassinations and the dictatorship
in order to maintain the economical, political, and so on structure; that is: the structure of power.
The elected by the former regime, Juan Carlos I, appointed the first president of the "democracy", the pro-Franco ex-governor Adolfo Suarez. .
The royal house has make the following public announcement: Under the organic law
of the state before the provisional proposal of the Reign Council,
your majesty the king, has designated Don Adolfo Suárez Gonzá*** as the head of the government,
who has already been general director of television and civil governor of Segovia.
Suárez lacks of the popular legitimacy given by votes in democratic elections.
I swear I will hold the duty of president of government with absolute loyalty to the King
and strict fidelity to the principles of the National movement and the fundamental laws of the Reign
In spite of the political "change", pro-Franco people (Franco followers) continued established in power.
Outstanding elements of Franco's fascism are today in the direction board of public and private companies;
are in the high judicature; are in the Police; are in the army…
And this can be hided during some time and can be silenced with the threat of a military rise (coup d'état) as it was done during the 80's,
but it is so evident and clear now that people is realizing it.
House of Commons
At this moment… at this moment… a shot has been heard,
a very hard knock in the camera, the Civil Guard comes in, at this moment in the House of Commons.
There is a lieutenant colonel and carrying a gun goes up stairs to the tribune… In this moment is aiming…
Everybody keep still!!
He is a Civil Guard…
lieutenant colonel Antonio Tejero from the Civil Guard leads the armed assault to the House of Commons
And we are seeing how… Careful! The police, the police
To the ground! To the ground everybody! To the ground!
We can not broadcast anymore becaus is aiming to me with...
To the ground!
February 23rd, 1981
Still!
All presidents after Suarez have pledged allegiance to the king imposed by Franco.
One after the other has been imposing different fascist and repressive policies.
(I swear) I will loyally carry out the obligations of president of government.
Entry/Become a member of in the terrorist organization NATO
I will faithfully carry out the obligations of president of government with loyalty to the king.
-Creation of paramilitary groups (GAL). Creation of Temporary Work Agencies. Gulf War.
I swear I will faithfully carry out the obligations of president of government with loyalty to the king.
Political parties banning. Yugoslavia War. Newspaper shutdowns. Iraq War
I will faithfully carry out the obligations of president of government with loyalty to the king.
Immigrants repression. Military occupation of Afghanistan and Haiti. Labour reform.

In these "democracy" days, capitalism proclaims the defense of human values and condemns "any expression" of violence,
using mass media and collectives such as the AVT.
Power, which claims to condemn violence… practices it constantly…
To Protect everybody's rights and liberties.

Such it is, comrades, fascists are not like fungus growing just overnight, no.
Employers have set up fascist, have love them, have paid them,
and with fascist, the employers have earned more and more, till they didn't know where to put the money.
And thus they invented war and they sent us to Africa, to Russia, to Greece, to Albany, to Spain…
But we always pay, who pays? The proletarians, farmers, workers… the poor.
After the change of regime, antifascist groups demonstrate every 20th of November rejecting Franco's regime
and its continuity in the form of a capitalist democracy.
In 2005, the Antifascist Coordinating Committee of Madrid decides to call for the 20N mobilization in memory of the last 5 executed of the dictatorship,
combining thus yesterday's anti-Franco's fight with today's anti-capitalist and anti-fascist struggle
In this 20N mobilization, we remember those who left their illusions, their health or their lives fighting fascism;
we strongly remember with love those five fighters for freedom that Franco-system murdered 30 years ago.
Surely they, the rich and powerful do not understand, but those who died in the name of freedom have not died completely.
They could not defeat them, and today, they've walked with us, behind each hood and in each shout/yell/cry, lifted up with each fist.
José Luis Sánchez Bravo Sollas, 22 years old.
José Humberto Francisco Baena Alonso, 24 years old.
Ramón García Sanz, 27 years old.
Juan Paredes Manot (Txiqui), 21 years old.
Ángel Otaegui Etxebarria, 33 years old.
In the night of the 19N of 2005, the verses that Txiqui wrote before being killed will sound:
Tomorrow when I die, don't you come to cry, I will never be underground, I am wind of freedom.
León Herrera Esteban Ministry of Information and Tourism.
The government, in relation to 4 causes instructed by military jurisdiction
with charges of terrorism and aggression to army forces,
has acknowledged the correspondent sentences and knows about the death (capital) penalty imposed to
Ángel Otaegui Etxebarria, José Humberto Francisco Baena Alonso, Ramón García Sanz, José Luis Sánchez Bravo Sollas and Juan Paredes Manotas.
News advance
Multiple indult petitions from foreign and Spanish famous people and institutions are arriving to El Pardo Palace.
It is the third time in few weeks that the Pope implores mercy to the condemned to Franco.
That same night and without waiting for the tragic final of the penalties, violent demonstrations take place in London, Paris, Rome
and other European cities against the Spanish diplomatic representatives, tourism offices and Iberia`s delegations.
Everything is useless; the old General is completely convinced of the imperative need to apply exemplary punishments.
Before down in Madrid, a retinue carrying José Baena, Luis Sánchez Bravo and Ramón García Sanz starts its way from Carabanchel prision to the execution squad.
An hour before 08:30 am, Ángel Otaegui has been executed in Burgos;
at 08:35 am, Juan Paredes Manot in Barcelona.
Squad!
Aim!
FIRE!
Spain is kept silent, but during all that weekend the entire Europe becomes a huge anti-Franco demonstration.
You fascist, assassins!
Resides, Mexico's President, Echeverría, demands before UN to expel Spain from this organism,
and to all of its members to break diplomatic relationships with Spain, and even more,
to keep our country under business and communication isolation.
The isolation ghost flies over Spain once again.
In spite of international pressure in 1975, the ultra-right defends, 30 years later, Franco's thesis through the Terrorism Victims Association (AVT).
AVT criminalizes the demonstration called by the Antifascist Coordinator of Madrid in memoriam of the last 5 executed of the dictatorship,
legitimising thus Franco's crimes and ignoring the international rejection to death penalty.
Numerous media don't doubt in giving coverage and repercussion to the AVT condemnation.
…of General Franco, five of them where members of ETA and two of them members of FRAP.
The Victims Association considers an outrage the fact that the Anti-Fascist Coordinator,
organizer of the event, goes through the same way than the terrorism victims in their demonstration.
The strategy that is being used in this demonstration is the same strategy used in the Basque Country
Permanent alert towards the enemies of the country!
An anonymous person calls with a completely different slogan than that of the demonstration, as the posters show.
The posters with 5 terrorists and the slogan of the demonstration have nothing to do with the petition made to the government delegate.
To stand up, it must be said… to the great enemies of Spain, which are: Marxism and Separatism.
Therefore, once the government delegate has evidence of this fraud, that it is a demonstration to exalt terrorism,
he has the obligation, and all responsibility, to prevent this event from taking place.
… to squash any attempt of subvert or alter this country's life.
Differences of opinion must be tolerated, but not when they are too different; then they become subversive.
AVT is an organization that acts as the social front of Popular Party (PP) and pretends "derechizar" the public opinion
with postulates that advocate censorship, police like solution and dialog rejection in political conflicts.
The Association for the Victims of Terrorism was initially a group set up for those affected by the victims of attacks perpetrated by the Basque organisation ETA.
But soon the far-right Franco movement would show its face, making itself visible through street demonstrations against the dialogue
to put an end over the political conflict in the Basque country, and criminalising musical groups such as:
-Fermín Muguruza "AVT emits a press communiqué against the celebration of Fermín Muguruza's concerts."
-Soziedad Alcohólica "AVT regrets the Town Hall of Vitoria can not manage to stop the performance of "Sociedad Alkoholica""
-Berri Txarrak "Suspension of the musical concert of the group Berri Txarrak in Madrid"
-Manu Chao "Manu Chao's show is cancelled in Málaga after the AVT critics. Manu Chao rejects playing without Muguruza"
Thank you friends. I would like to mention… and also to speak about some important themes…
strong issues, big things… Yes, yes, yes…
No jokes or silly stuff like that,
Also, for once one has the opportunity to speak out; one can not loose time with such silly things…
Its better to pick an up to date theme, an issue that worries, grab it, and pim, pam, pim, pam…
On and on, whatever happens
We have to make good use of the freedom we have nowadays to be able to… (speak) Don't we?
Well, nothing happens, ha!
Come on, I don't think… I don't believe thatfor saying a few silly things I will be…
I don't think so! Everything's cool, man! This has changed… wow! This has really changed…
The AVT has criminalized, traed to criminalized, this demonstration.
Do you honestly believe that they are going to get their own way?
No, I don't think so.
Don't you think… Ho! What are you? A family of communists?
I think it's somehow its role. It is an organization that operates as en extreme right group
and what tries to do is to get political profit of the victims, which they are not even all represented.
That's normal, coming from an organization of those characteristics,
which by the way doesn't represent any terrorism victim, but defends some principles that are more related
to the extreme right and that kind of traditions.
It's proven they are representatives of capital
Why do you think this demonstration has tried to be criminalized?
Well, on the one hand, the AVT is, (in a way), the political arm of the Popular Party and of quite a big part of the right of this country,
especially in themes related to the Basque conflict, the AVT has panic and terror for the conflict in Euskady to jump over the repressive dynamic
Any kind of different strategy such as… (I don't know), a negotiated solution, a truce process, a dialog, in which themes like self-determination
are placed on the table, panics them. And so, everything around Euskadi is going to be treated by them in repressive key, sensationalistic key, criminalize key.
We defend liberty of expression, we fight against censorship.
We've created already a communiqué, we've sent it to the press, it is on the webpage of the Antifascist Coordinator,
and, well, we manifest that the AVT is an association that does not represent all victims,
and what it does is a political usage of victims.
Ou, nou, nazis nou, nazis nou, nazis nou Ou, nou, nazis nou, nazis nou, nazis nou
Manipulators!
AVT tries by all means to stop the demonstration, making an official complaint
to the National Audience and labelling with "terrorism exaltation" a homage act
to the executed of the dictatorship and the anti-Franco fighters.
The Antifascist Coordinator of Madrid decides to call a press-conference to respond the harassment of the AVT.
Antifascist Coordinator
And now I want to comment on the position of the Antifascist Coordinator of Madrid,
which is a coordinator that gathers different organizations and collectives that have a neighbourhood (suburb),
political and social work, and, who, about the charges presented by the AVT, manifest the following.
Historic memory
First of all, the demonstration of Saturday 19th of November at 8 pm in Cibeles
is an homage to the hundred of thousands assassinated and victims of reprisal of a terrorist and antidemocratic regime.
That's why the intents, in the name of democracy, of stopping an exercise of historical memory
that pays tribute to all who fought against dictatorship, seems especially suspicious.
Massive mobilization
To the accusations of terrorism exaltation we democrats and antifascists from Madrid,
must respond with a massive and pacific mobilization in defense of political rights and liberties.
Against fear
Firms against the repressive and censoring tendency of the most intransigent right
and the neo-Franco ideas that are imposing in the Spanish state
the invention of closing mouths and extending fear
Solidarity
To fear and silence we must respond with the solidarity of all of us who are pro freedom,
civil rights, and retrieval of the best of our historical memory.
To win freedom back
We confirm the antifascist demonstration still goes on, stronger and with more motives than ever,
and we invite you to make of it: a big act of affirmation and liberties reconquest,
of solidarity and compromise with social emancipation.
They will not pass
We call for tomorrow at 8 pm in Cibeles. They will not pass.
History hasn't finished. Capitalism is barbarism and suffering for the most.
In the most is hope. Defend joy, organize anger. They will not pass!
Follow your own impulses

Let's join together to fight fascism today and never to let it back.
Not a step back! Antifascist assembly of Sanse and Alcobendas.
Antifascist groups of nowadays...
Let's punch back till we leave them K.O.
Can you hear people's voice?
30 years after Franco torture still exists. Absolution for Sergio L.D.
In the name of all victims of reprisal of Franco's regime
An applause for all them
Is it necessary to keep on fighting against fascism?
Well, I have done it and I think we should all do it.
Nowadays, why is it necessary to keep on fighting?
I am glad to see young people, I am very glad,
but I think there should be a continuum of antifascist culture,
which I don't see anywhere, do you understand?
And, do you see it here?
Yes, indeed, why do you think I came here for? To be satisfied and see it, and enjoy it, ok?
Ok, thank you very much.
Despite the attempts of criminalization by the AVT, the demonstration was a success.
It counted with the support of numerous organizations and the participation of more than 5.000 people.
This demo is part of a rise of social movements, which have managed to mobilize thousands of people
for the Auto-determination of nations, for socialism, and for the anti-monarchy, anti-fascist and anti-capitalist struggle.
During many years thousands of militants suffered repression and gave up their lives,
their time, their youth, for freedom. And here we are to honour them.
Tell us, why are you here today?
To demonstrate against a constitution that we consider illegitimate and a-monarchic,
that means the maintenance in power of the oligarchic power that ruled during Franco.
And that's why we demonstrate; for the auto-determination right of people,
for a confederated republic and for socialism.
What should be done?
Spread as much as possible all press releases and the discourse of social movements.
To organize committees; the more, the best
To fight against fascism
To claim that there must be a memory and continuity between the people
who fought and the ones who keep on fighting, so their deaths are not in vain.
What should be done?
A massive demonstration, combative
To assert ourselves against Franco
First of all, we would have to start a debate about what Spain is.
Second of all, what's all that about two Spains?
There are no two Spains here; what there is here is working people, exploited and exploiters. Neither Spains nor Spouns.
And there are misters who own palaces and others who don't even have where to sleep.
- Ok, thanks very much. - You're welcome.
-…they don't represent anybody, do they?
well of course, nobody at all. They represent themselves.
In fact, they earn money for themselves, they keep money for their only objectives,
I mean, no, they represent absolutely no body.
And the sad thing is, really, there are no enough mass media to spread all this.
And the only enemy we people, proletarians, have is capital.
And thus, in order to be against capital, one has to be antifascist. I least I do.
I've been all my life fighting against fascism.
Revolution is not made by one person; it is made by many people.
To fight against fascism
We are antifascist because we are anti-capitalists,
because we understand fascism as the most terrorist expression of capitalism.
Breaking fences Joining people
Wherever power goes it will find resistance
They are going to fight and these are their weapons
Fascism and racism arguments of capitalism
100% anti-fascist BAF

This demonstration finishes here, but the antifascist struggle continues.
"Future is ours" This demonstration finishes here, but the antifascist struggle continues.
