"Rumor Has It" by Adele playing
Rumors can help people make sense of the world. But false or inaccurate information can do more harm than good.
Rumors are meant to be discussed among people. The more it's discussed, the stronger it gets.
The problem is, if people only discuss rumors at a secondary or even tertiary level,
it's highly unlikely that the truth will ever be found.
Rumors are often perpetuated by the misguided or ill-informed. This can be resolved
by having the right person take control of the situation.
Watch how the fireman 'controls the rumor.' This illustrates how someone who is trusted
and knowledgable of the rumor is best equipped to manage it.
They can replace the fallacies with facts. Once someone who is qualified to manage the rumor,
the accuracy of information transmitted will increase.
Remember the fireman who saved us all from a Rumor Mill Meltdown?
Let's see what happens when the wrong influence gets control of a rumor.
Pirates take control of it but instead of controlling it, they spread it! The wrong influence
can use their power for good or evil in helping the rumor spread.
A leader of a group can influence the way other people think. If the primary source passes on false
information, it is likely going to be believed by others who are also trying to “make sense” of the world.
This has been a Brick City Wombat Production. Hope you learned something!
