The SIDS
is the leading cause of death among infants between one month
to one year of age in the developed world. Statistics in the developing countries would show a
similar situation. One way to mitigate this condition is that the
baby sleeps on his back. Other, would be keeping track of the vital signs,
heart and breathing rate. However, there is no a low-cost device
that could accomplish these tasks.
Our idea is to develop a low-cost
visual monitor to alert parents and caregivers
about the SIDS risk conditions
this will be done while the baby is sleeping
on his o her crib. The conditions are: First,
when the baby doesn't sleep on his or her back. Or Two,
when his/her heart rate and breathing rate are not normal.
In order to detect the heart and breathing rate
we will base our investigation on the work developed by
engineers at MIT. They've identified vital signs by using novel
image processing and computer vision techniques. Our challenge
East implement an efficient by an over him not bomb Science Computer
call run free pie
our goal is that the device cause less than a hundred dollars
however we are aware that many parties could not afford with that for this
reason we believe this solution has to be implemented in a leasing scheme
in this way one delays can be reused for other parents later on
