Heather: Hey guys! This is Heather from HealthyEatingStartsHere.com. Okay, it’s getting to be close to Christmas
time. It’s December now and Christmas to me equals sweet potatoes. I like them all
year round, but at Christmas I feel like I have this excuse to just eat them all the
time.
So, what I thought I’d today is make a sweet potato smoothie, which is going to be a little
bit experimental. I haven’t measured anything yet. I’m just going to put a precooked sweet
potato. I cooked it; it didn’t come precooked, just in case you’re worried about me.
So, two potatoes in my Magic Bullet blender cup. This will probably be really a lot better
if you have a full blender, but mine is packed away in the shed.
So, with the magic bullet it’s easy for me. I am going to add mango, because that
spells Christmas, right. That was sarcastic in case you didn’t guess. But it also helps
sweeten up the sweet potato a little bit.
And I’m going to put in some almond milk because it’s a rare occasion and I actually
have some, but you can also do water or you could make your own almond milk.
I’m going to throw in some cinnamon, which always goes so lovely with sweet potatoes.
Now, this is going to be great, because you can get all of the deliciousness of sweet
potatoes, but you can add in some fresh greens like my spinach and/or where they go, sprouts.
You all know I love my sprouts, so I’m going to put in a big handful of those babies and
then you get a whole ton of nutrition along with your sweet potatoes.
So, this will be an excellent way to have like a cleansing meal after a big, say, after
Thanksgiving or after Christmas dinner.
If you made a big thing with sweet potatoes you can just save a little bit plain and make
yourself a smoothie.
And then this would be great for breakfast, it would be great for a snack or I don’t
know, what else do you want to have this for? After a workout.
So, just blend this all up until it’s smooth.

You might need to stop and shake it a little bit. That’s what I like to do with Magic
Bullet. You can’t really do that with a blender. Well, I suppose you could. You just
have to be more careful with the top to make sure it doesn’t fly off or spew sweet potato
all over the place.

Okay, so, mine is really thick. I added some water and I’m going to give it another go.
[Blender Working]
Alright, let’s see. It’s still pretty thick, but to be honest I just don’t have
any room left. So, it’s going to have to stay like this and it smells really awesome.
So, green and fresh, it’s really good.
I don’t know exactly what I was expecting, but the mango really comes through and just
kind of brightens it up. It’s really nice.
Okay, so, this is the basic smoothie and I really like it.
Okay, stop drinking Heather. Okay, I wanted to mention a few little options that you could
change this up.
So, you could add some tahini, some peanut butter to make it thicker and creamier if
you wanted to.
You could add some pear and maple syrup to make is sweeter, if you wanted to. I had this
beside me just in case I needed it, but I like it as is just with the mango.
You could add some coco power or carob powder to make it chocolaty. I’ve done that with
just the sweet potato without the mango and just some coco and some maple syrup, it’s
so delicious; really, really good.
So, those are some ideas to get you started on your sweet potato mango smoothie.
