Female Speaker 1: My life at home is very, very settled I only had one daughter and I
lost her four years ago like with cancer. She again had…has a daughter who is now
about twenty-two. She comes in maybe once a week just to see that things are okay, she
phones every evening to check “Are you alright gran?”
Female Speaker 2: At home I got to a day centre several times a day that’s good because
I get my lunch there. But at the weekends it’s not so good, it’s not on the weekend.
So the weekends that much time Sunday can be one of the worst days. And to come here
on my own would be very difficult so actually to be brought here in a car and taken back
home again, it’s very good and this
is a lovely just to see.
Female Speaker 3: Oh it’s nice to come in and get a cup of tea.
Female Speaker 4: There is milk and sugar if you like.
Female Speaker 5: I said “where are you?” to Margaret.
Female Speaker 1: I’ve got to quite a few people I don’t know second names and any
of that but that doesn’t mean a thing they know me as Betty I know them as Peggy, Mary
or etcetera. It’s quite a good way of keeping in contact with other people.
Female Speaker 2: Betty did you find so many cars on the road today, I thought anyway the…
Female Speaker 1: Near the road yeah.
Female Speaker: [IB].
Female Speaker 1: This to me is quite an event it’s an outing. I’m hearing other people’s
views and it keeps my mind fresh. It makes you more appreciative of the things you yourself
have. I think it’s an…and it’s actually good we at keeping, I don’t say keeping
you young but it keeps you conversant with what’s going on in the world ‘cause I
don’t want to become a doddery old gear.
