Understanding the different stimulation protocols is not actually an easy thing to do.
It requires a lot of knowledge of the physiology behind what makes up a normal menstrual cycle.
During the IVF protocols, essentially the medications that we use stop ovulation from occurring.
This is done so that we can capture the eggs from the ovaries before they’re released.
There are essentially four protocols. The first is called the long Lupron protocol. The second: the short Lupron protocol. The third: microdose Lupron protocol.
And finally: the GnRH antagonist protocols.
All essentially are different ways of allowing you to stimulate the ovaries before they are lost to ovulation.
