Hi I'm Daniel Allen with the Sacramento Association of REALTORS and I am here with
Jennifer Odama to bring you Tech Tip #10: How to convert your documents into a PDF
so when we stored documents electronically we usually do so in PDF format
or a Portable Document Format
and the reason we do that is for two reasons
first off they're much more
difficult to edit. You just can't just pull them up in
Word or Excel and type on it. It's a little more difficult to do that
and then secondly
there's a lot of
other applications that we use like DocuSign and Equator
that do not accept
a format other than PDF
so we're going to show you something very easy and free
to use and to convert those documents into PDF so when you receive a document
like that may be in jpg format or tiff or
or you want to convert an Excel or Word document into a PDF you can use
this application as well
ok you are going to go to
www.cutepdf.com thats: C-U-T-E-P-D-F.com
in the middle of the page
you're going to look for a link that says "Free Download" for the cutePDF writer
you're going to click on that
and you're going to click save
and then it's going to prompt you to
save it to your, to your desktop
I usually save it to the desktop so it's easy to find
I actually already downloaded it
so I'm going to close this out
and once the download is complete you're going to see a little icon here
and then you're going to double click that
and then click run
and in a few seconds a window will pop up
of the installer
and click next
We're going to accept the license agreement
and click next again
on this one you want to make sure to just unclick that first checkbox so that
unclicks the rest of them, because we only want to
install CutePDF Writer
then click next
and then your going to click "Install"
it'll just take a few seconds here
and then once it's done you'll see action instructions here but don't
worry about that, there are
instructions within the program
and then to test it
your going to just select the print
icon you normally would to print a document
and then you are going to look for CutePDF Writer
select that, then click print
then it's going to ask you where you want to save the PDF
so I'm just going to put it on the desktop here
and then when you pull this document up we can see that it is a PDF and this is a print out of the webpage
thanks Jennifer
CutePDF is a great program and the best part is it's free for both
business and for personal use
now CutePDF is not the only program out there that does this, so you're going to want to do your due
diligence and make sure that this is the program for you
It's just nice that it's free
so thanks for watching this months Tech Tip and thanks to Jennifer Odama
for joining me here today and stay tuned for next month's Tech Tip.
Thanks for watching. Bye.
