SCIENTIFIC VOCABULARY
Stem cells are a type of specialized cells,
that exist in multi-cellular organisms.
They have the ability to produce specialized cells,
and also to renew themselves i.e., to self-renew.
Stem cells can produce other stem cells
and specialized cells from different tissues of its body.
There are two types of stem cells: embryonic stem cells
and adult stem cells.
Embryonic stem cells are found in the embryo,
or in the blastocyst, which is a phase of the embryo
when it has between 70 and 100 cells.
And these embryonic cells are totipotential,
i.e., they can produce any type of tissue
or any specialized cell of its body.
