Hi everyone, I'm Amber Katz from BeautyBloggingJunkie.com
and I wanted to talk to you guys today about my best tips for
body exfoliation and my first, the first tip, step one is
to figure out whether or not you have sensitive skin.
If you tend to get rashes or any type of skin irritation from
a regular body scrub or any type of exfoliating apparatus,
you definitely want to go the first route instead
when it comes to body exfoliation.
And my first, the first option or first route is investing
in a pair of gloves like these.
These are Loofah gloves.
You can get them at any Duane Reade, any drugstore,
they run about three to five dollars.
I would recommend buying a pair and even a backup pair 'cause
you want to switch these out about every two months because
they tend to develop bacteria and all that kind of stuff.
But they're not crazy abrasive and depending on how hard you
rub on your body is how much exfoliation you're gonna get and
how intense the exfoliation is going to be, so I would suggest
pairing it, especially if you have sensitive skin, with
a pretty mild body wash like this one by Olay, it's called
Ultra Moisture Body Wash with shea butter.
It's really moisturizing, it's really frothy,
it lathers into a really nice lather.
You could also use it with soap, you don't have to use it
with body wash, but I happen to like this one.
And you just put them on your hands, go all around your body,
arms, legs, torso, the whole deal while you're in the shower
and then rinse clean and you'll definitely notice your bod
has like a smoother more glowy suppleness to it.
So that's one option.
The second option, and again, this is if you do not
have sensitive skin.
I would suggest starting outside of the shower with this product
from Olay, it's the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced
Cleansing System and it comes with this gadgety brush head
and their exfoliating renewal cleanser.
It comes in a pack when you buy it so you don't have to
worry about purchasing them separately.
And what you do is dampen your skin, your face,
your shoulders and your decollete.
It's probably best to do this when you're not wearing a black
sweater dress, but you know, when you're in the nude in your
bathroom in the privacy of your own home, I would suggest going
over your face with it, going over your neck,
don't ever forget to do everything you do on your face
to your neck, but then also going over your decollete,
your shoulders and even your arms.
You know, like the top half of your arms with this
like pre-shower, outside of the shower.
Then step two is to invest in a dry brush like this.
You can get these at health food stores, you can get them
at drugstores, I actually purchased this one at
Duane Reade, at a drugstore.
It's pretty simple to use.
What you do is, I was directed by an Aesthetician to do it this
way, you go upwards on your arms so I'll do it just to show you.
You go, you brush upwards on your arms all the way up,
upwards on this arm, on your legs you brush up, you're always
brushing towards your heart, that's the modus operandi
of this dry-brushing system.
You go around on your tummy, you go around on your chest,
but lightly because you don't want to aggravate your decollete
skin because it's fragile, it's definitely more delicate.
You should probably skip the bust, because again,
it's a fragile area.
Try as best as you can to get your back.
Go over the ***, the backs of your legs, your feet definitely,
the whole thing before you get into the shower and it really
amps up your circulation and sort of gets your body ready
to really shed its old skin cell layers and expose
a more gleaming, glowing, supple skin underneath.
So that's the next step.
And then if you still feel like you really want to go all out
with the exfoliation, the third step is to take
a sugar scrub like this one.
I really like the Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish, it's great,
it's got a little more oil than I'd like on the top,
but what I do is I just sort of avoid the oil and I just
scoop out the sugar part where I'd like.
So I have a little bit of the sugar scrub on my hand and what
I do, this is all by the way still before you get into the
shower, I rub some onto my dry skin, pre-shower, all over,
arms, legs, torso, ***, backs of the legs, the back as best
as you can get it, and then once I've thoroughly rubbed it
all over, I then get into the shower, scrub it off and then
use my regularly scheduled soap or cleanser or what have you.
I would skip the gloves, but I would just apply it
with a washcloth or however you normally apply it.
So I hope that helps and stay tuned for more tips.
Thanks.
