This Joe Bosso for Music Radar the place for music makers and I'm speaking with Joe Hipps
who's artist relations for Mapex Drums. Joe's here to tell us about the new Meridian Birch
Kit , new for 2009, Joe, what can you tell me that's new about the kit?
>>This class of drums the maple and birch, this particular kit is birch, it's an all
birch shell with an outside of birch veneer for finishing. All the finishes are transparent
laquer finishes. This classic drum set has all new metal fittings, new tom tom mounts,
new brackets, new iso mounts, new bass drum claws, new lugs, the lugs have been perfectly
designed to be smaller inside so basically we let the finish show more and not the chrome fittings.
The birch drums come in all kinds of configurations and the magic thing about this, along with
the 700 series hardware, which is heavy duty, it's got an amazing street price which means
you can go into a store and buy it for under $800. $800 doesn't mean it's not a great sounding
drum set and to prove this we have, joining us is Gregg Bissonette who has been in so
many different famous bands; Ringo Starr allstar band, Spinal Tap can you believe that, just amazing things.
>>A few drummers just survived Spinal Tap. >>You can hear him on, when you see the
re-runs of Friends, he did all the Friends recordings, an LA great so we're going to
have Gregg Bissonette do a little bit on the drums to prove that under $800 doesn't mean
under $800 sound. Greg Bissonette.
