Many people are working hard to get success. But do you think just working hard brings you success ?
Today, I am going to tell you why your feelings are important for your success.
A man has started a new business. One day his father asked him.
"How is it going with your new business? Have you earned any money yet?"
When the son heard that, he didn't feel good, because his father said it with such a sarcastic tone. On top of that, his business wasn't going well.
So the bad-tempered son shouted to his father "What have you done for me ?"
And they had a big fight.
But the reason why the son has a bad mood is not because his father spoke to him with a sarcastic tone. The real reason is that the son is having thoughts which make him feel bad.
Do you want to know why ?
The son was already worried about his business, because he has been thinking "My business is not going well. What should I do if I fail ?"
When you feel fear and worry, the amygdala (a part of the emotional brain) is activated.
If you want to know what the amygdala is, then please read my book. In "Happiness is science" I explained the amygdala in great detail.
However, if his business is going well, he would respond differently.
He would smile and could say "It's going ok".
Put differently, if you don't feel worried, you create different feelings. Therefore, you respond differently, although you are under the same conditions and circumstances.
The question is: How should I think if my business is not going well.
Which thoughts are beneficial to me and what should I think to make my business successful ?
Think differently.
Think about the real meaning of the father's question.
"Aha, Daddy wants me to become successful and prosperous." Then you imagine that your business is doing fantastic, so that your dad is also very pleased.
If you think like that, your thoughts will create good feelings.
Above all, if you change your thought patterns like that, you will feel good. Therefore, you can focus better and have strong self esteem.
So it's not difficult to guess which one is going to be successful.
If you feel hurt or drained by what someone is saying, please check your thoughts.
Am I thinking helpful thoughts?
