The spread of cholera in Haiti quickly proved to be the largest cholera epidemic in recent history.
In 2010, the year of the onset of this epidemic, Haiti reported more cholera cases
than the entire continent of Africa, which is one thousand times the size of Haiti.
The urgent need for continued financial and technical support to the Haitian government
in an effort to eliminate cholera from the country is evident.
When a cholera outbreak occurs, rapid response is necessary.
The community sanitation and drinking water technicians carrying out this work on the ground are known as TEPAC.
Response activities include household visits where sanitation supplies like water purification are distributed.
