I think telework is not an option anymore.
Really for most organizations I think adopting telework, which is really the
ability to work from home, absolutely, and is having all the tools that you need to
perform your job that you could in the office. So obviously technology work has a
big part of that and supports that. The NIH has made the decision from a
business perspective
to understand how beneficial to the business telework is in terms of continuity.
We had snow storms, we have government
closures,
the business of NIH can continue through all those things
because of telework.
I telework two days a week regularly
and it's great because
I live in Frederick so it's a really far drive for me, so it's nice because the hour and a half that I would be
on the road in the morning
and on the way home, I can actually be working instead.
At night it's great when I get off of work on those days because rather than sitting on two
seventy for an hour and a half to two hours if traffic is bad. I can be giving my
daughter dinner. That makes me happier overall
and it makes me
want to do more for my boss. And it's really
been fantastic. I
find that I'm more productive, I'm more enthusiastic, I'm more energized
to come to work, you know, the time that I'm here and I get so much more done because I'm not as stressed out.
