My name is Philippe Theilet, I work in the Finance sector
in a department in charge of improving the information system.
My name is Jérôme Huebra and I am a Program Director at Societe Generale.
The different scopes and subjects of the different projects we carry out
concern the information system for finance control,
accounting production, the regulatory adjustments requested by regulators
as well as the information systems necessary for our business line.
The project team within Product Control
works on issues covering all the channel
from the Front office tools to the accounting ones.
I work on a transformation program within product control.
This program consists of a set of projects which are carried by Project Managers.
These Project Managers have to work
on one or more problems in processing chains by product type
and so they work with operational management, the Financial Department
and ask for technical developments from technical teams
that help to make the chain more fluid.
The attraction of the Project Manager position
within the product processing control group program
is the variety of issues you deal with, the constant challenges,
the international scope and above all the range of scope in terms of products
but also in terms of the team.
A Project Manager has to work with all the stakeholders involved,
the goal being to understand the needs and problems of their professions
in order to translate them into simple words
and to enable the development teams to implement solutions
within processing chains.
A typical day for a Project Manager consists of organising his teams’ work,
working with end users, meeting IT teams
and of course dealing with various exchanges of information
via email or telephone with his clients.
Being a Project Manager within the product control group
also means dealing with daily challenges.
These challenges are fulfilling the demands of management,
participating in meetings, defending positions and proposing solutions.
In terms of the qualities necessary to be a Project Manager,
methodology is at the heart of the job.
He also needs an analytical mind,
to make strong proposals whilst retaining an overview.
A Project Manager has to be communicative, collaborative, and rigorous,
have a spirit of overview and analysis
and should be concerned with the deliverable quality of his project.
A Project Manager develops dual technical and functional skills
due to his proximity to various professional roles.
Being a Project Manager means working in a team,
being able to share ideas, reflect and work together in order to define solutions.
