OL, what's up today? Studying Spanish again?
No, actually I'm working on History today.
How in the world to you keep up with all that in your online classes? It seems like a lot
of work.
It's really not that hard. Here let me show you. There are several tools to help me keep
up with everything. First, there's the Announcements area. It has the latest news and usually that's
the first thing I see when I log into class. Then there's the Getting Started area. That
one tells me how the course is laid out, how to contact my instructor and the name of the
textbook we'll be using. There's also the Syllabus, which lists all the rules for the
class, has all of my assignments and when they are due and contains an outline of the
entire course. It also lists the grading scale, instructor contact info and all of the fine
print. And here's the Discussion Board. This is where I can post questions to teachers
and classmates whenever I need help. Does the announcements page always show up
first when you log in?
Not always. Some instructors show the Announcements, others might show the Getting Started area.
Usually the instructor will explain how things will go in your class in the Getting Started
section.
So every class might look a little different when you log in?
Exactly. You'll get used to it after a few sessions. The key is to take advantage of
the Discussion Board. It's easy to get help if you just ask and your classmates and instructors
will be more than willing to help you out. Just make sure you read the instructions.
Well thanks for your help OL. Next semester I'm definitely taking some online classes.
Well hit me up on the Discussion Board if you need any help.
Count on it. See ya later.
