NARR>> KATHY COLLINS: Divine Nature Alliance provides an invitation, education and opportunities
for people to connect with nature
as a source of rejuvenation, inspiration and peace
and to discover
access or explore their own nature as a source of the wisdom,
strength
creativity and compassion
and the ability to heal and grow.
In 2005, Eve Hogan acquired Maliko Farms, just below
Makawao Town in Maliko Gulch on Maui.
The 10,000 sq ft nursery was severely neglected
as the old debris was removed,
seeds of the Sacred Garden and Divine Nature Alliance were planted.
The facility is now working nursery,
plants are propagated and tended and are available for sale.
Areas are set aside, providing space to relax,
to enjoy the cool breeze and the beauty.
Births are celebrated, ceremonies performed, deaths are memorialized.
People of all backgrounds come to the Garden to greive and celebrate, to share,
to plant and plan -
or just to bring their lunch and sit a few minutes.
The healing mechanisms of stress reduction are scientifically proven and
prescribed -
physicians and health care practitioners globally recognize the curative
properties in stress relieving activities...
deep breathing,
meditation...
and gardening.
Two labyrinths were constructed on the property whose origins date back to
5,000 years.
Today labyrinths are found in churches, parks, hospitals, prisons, cemeteries
and places of pilgrimage all over the world.
The labyrinths' healing technology may be lost to history,
but its curative effects are found here today and realized on a daily basis.
Regularly scheduled events include Sunday morning meditation services, they're
non-denominational and open to the public.
Throughout the month classes, workshops and support groups are available...
art and music workshops, gardening classes - there's a monthly
labyrinth discussion
followed by a moonlit labyrinth walk. >>EVE HOGAN: We all have a sacred center
just like this
it's beautiful, it's connected and that's where we go to
access spirit, access the divine, access wisdom...
It's unwavering.
NARR>> KATHY COLLINS: And there's a variety of healing techniques taught and practiced,
fully utilizing the opportunities for growth found at the garden.
