Hi my name is Iana. I studied Foundation Art & Design this year
at Nottingham Trent International College. Next year I'll progress onto the university
at Nottingham Trent International College. Next year I'll progress onto the university
to study Architecture.
Iana just completed a project on the urban environment
which considers lots of different aspects
of living within the city environment.
of living within the city environment.
So can you tell us about your work
and how you were inspired by Nottingham
to create these presentation boards?
to create these presentation boards?
What inspired you about the local area?
In my work I was inspired by nature
and I wanted to bring a greener sense
to the Nottingham area.
to the Nottingham area.
So I wanted to make it more different and interactive than before.

So I wanted to make it more different and interactive than before.
So we had some lectures which were about
Eco design and sustainability, and thinking about green issues within the urban environment.

I think Iana used that for inspiration.
So we have here some of her final presentation boards.
How did you begin the project Iana?
How did you begin the project Iana?
You picked a site didn't you?
So how did you choose that site?
At the beginning I was just walking around Nottingham and was looking
for some places which could have some interesting changes done to them.

for some places which could have some interesting changes done to them.
I found this place because I was very interested in it before.
I really liked the peaceful atmosphere
so it deserved to be improved.
So is this an area you would walk past in Nottingham quite regularly?

Actually, this would only be open for two weeks.

OK, so it's like a pop-up semi-permanent idea.
Like a temporary architect idea, which is very current
and also very applicable to Eco design principles
and thinking about how we can use space in a really specific way.
Iana really thought about her site
Iana really thought about her site
and she's been visiting that at different times of the day and photographed it.
She really thought of how the space could be used
in a better way to create a semi-permanent architectural installation.

We have some images of Iana's model here
which she created a scale model to showcase her ideas.

She's considered lots of different construction methods
and really thought about categorizing on the green space
and really thought about categorizing on the green space
and bringing some of that beautiful vegetation and green thinking into the center of the town.

The reason why I chose to study at NTIC
is because it's a great opportunity for all of us to meet new people from different cultures and communicate and learn with them.
