A very good morning, at least it’s morning for me.
I think, it’s 7:20 am, I am in Stuttgart and I’m going
to Dresden today and I would like
to create a video-diary.
But to answer the question: Why going to Dresden?
Very simple: Cliquenwesen has been nominated,
designer award or rather media award and I am
here now and very excited about what we will
discover and experience and I’ll take you along
by recording and yeah.
I am excited and tired and I will
get some coffee now. So, see you!
Do I look terrible?
I think I do. How long does it still take?
three quarters of an hour?
three quarters of an hour?
three quarters of an hour?
An absolute no- go, the Deutsche Bahn…
don’t look at me like that, Deutsche Bahn!
The Deutsche Bahn: Up yours!
Actually, I’m not even allowed to talk like that,
it’s going to be on Youtube… so what.
Anyways, they can’t be serious
being delayed for 40 minutes!
Or 50 or 80 or… now, Dresden automatically
becomes really crappy to me… I will never
pass through the East again.
The east is dead for me.
If you are from there I’m sorry but…
This is what Dresden looks like,
it’s the most beautiful side of Dresden.
You see so much, just mentioning the skyline
and the high- riser that are so unichrome…
And here: Porsche. And a boy on his bike
who doesn’t turn around which surprises me!
And here, such a nice path… I hope there’s no need
to bowdlerize the license plates, I’m not in the mood.
And yeah, I don’t even know what to report,
I just want to take on! A gaudy tower…
the Dresdner are crazy!
Hey I really psych them out, maybe I really
shouldn’t upload this one… They’ll beat me up,
they’ll hate me, the Dresdener will hate me!
I don’t think there are so many Dresdner.
Do I actually have subscribers from Dresden?
If so: please let me know.
Tell me what you think about Dresden.
Do you also think it’s odd like I do?
As you know: first impressions count and I am not convinced.
It really looks like… no idea!
A pink car ahead, well, this is a great start!
And the cam is blurred… you really can forget about that.
Probably, the camara came from Dresden.
I really don’t have a clue… where is the ship?!
We’re looking for a ship, guys.
I think, to the right.
Yes, have a look. Isn’t there a ship?
Oh I see, yes! Is there a ship? So when we walk here,
we definitely have to turn rightwards.
Fine, I finish the video now,
there´s no sense to it anyway.
There it is! What? Is there a ship?
Yes. Where is it? There is no ship.
Yes, for sure! Eh? Where?
After we checked into the hotel,
we went directly to the „Scheune Dresden“.
Preparations still took place, hence not much
was going on yet but the first nominates gradually
arrived and the event started.
It was very interesting to see what the entire place
looked like before the crowd was there.
As you can see: The chairs are not
occupied yet, they were still arranging the
technical equipment: sound, setting, projector…
it was really interesting to notice what everything
looked like before the whole party happened.
So, even if it´s not apparent for some of you,
I really found it interesting and enjoyable.
Well, at 7 o’clock: presentation time.
And who’s the one raising his hand first?
Of course it´s Tex.
That’s why I thought: I just take that mic
and start right away!
The sound quality is not the best so here
he introduction of my speech:
»Take four entirely different people, add a pinch
of creativity and stir it well with a dose
of wit and humor.
The outcome of this is the probable battiest
and looniest sitcom on youtube: Cliquenwesen.«
And that was exactly my speach.
It was interesting to notice the different
reactions and especially those from
the younger nominates.
I have to say: i am content and I think I held
an acceptable speech.
Of course, there is always room for improvement
but I think I can be proud of it and I expressed
what I intended to express.
But I want to give you a short résumé
so you come to know what it was all about.
Where can I start? As you all know, on January 1st…
no, sorry, on January the 10th 2011,
I created the channel.
That time I thought by myself:
Hey Tex, you have to construct something
groundbreaking, spectacular, in a positve way,
up the pole which is capable to enthuse
all the people out there on youtube.
And that’s why I thought without further ado:
Maybe, comedy might be yours; you like to dub,
disguise your voice...
why not doing something like that?
And so, like I said before, I created the channel
on January the 10th.
But you have to know that this channel
was generated during my vocational education
and it was my year of graduation and
I really couldn’t think straight and sit down
and create something »comedy like«.
That’s why I put the channel on the back burner
and I didn’t find the time to manage something.
Well, in the middle of September,
rather middle of August, the time had come,
the whole production started.
First of all I wanted to create my intro.
But I also wanted? To explain
the process, the idea behind »Cliquenwesen«.
I’m not a person watching TV all the time
but I have to admit: I’m into sitcoms!
I really like watching them.
In the past it was »Full house«, something really big.
Nowadays it´s »Victorious«, »iCarly«, »Drake & Josh«
they´re all really great and enthuse
day by day- at least me.
And that’s the reason I thought:
Maybe I could organize a sitcom as well,
following the example of the American ones,
slightly modified with an increased reference,
that’s why it is released on YouTube,
to the audience in order to integrate it superiorly.
And that’s how »Cliquenwesen« arised,
like I said on the mission to start as a very small
YouTube User with the most rudimental equipment,
because everyone once started
with an inefficient camera.
Fine, you know the intro, we replay it one more time.
Good gracious! But of course,
I wasn’t the only one presenting.
These nice twins, unfortunately I couldn’t talk to them
or rather I didn’t have the occasion to,
were also creating something:
a nine-minute-movie dealing with Science-Fiction.
Science Fiction is something really interesting,
the big spin-offs are of course »Star Wars«,
»Star Trek« and so on.
I have to confess: I don’t like Science Fiction
that much but I must admit that it was a really
interesting story, a very
commendable work of both of them.
They reported that they were busy for two entire days
to film and it took them more than one year
to create the backgrounds. Really fascinating!
What you can also see here is a movie called
»a fishy tail«. It’s about a fish looking for
and finding the true love.
You all know: love can hurt so much
and that’s what it‘s about as well.
The movie has been designed with »Blender«,
a 3D-programm. Really considerable.
I really can say, it was considerable!
These both nifty guys, obviously brothers,
as you can see for instance by the outfits,
presented a movie as well,
I have to say it was altogether a primarily
movie-oriented event which isn’t automatically bad
but there were predominantly movies, they analyzed
Facebook more specific: Where are the pitfalls,
what to heed and how to behave in the
world wide web, especially on social media pages
like Facebook and Twitter.
A really interesting presentation
and an interesting movie as well.
A very good morning!
Recently got up and I’m really pooped.
I must say: The journey yesterday was really
annoying, especially because the train was so
delayed but ok, the speeches, the presentations in
the evening were really fascinating, today,
we’re going to the festival, I’m really excited
what it will look like, the workshops and what
generally awaits us, so:
See you later and I will get some coffee now
and an excellent breakfast of course!
And then on Saturday it really began properly:
at 11 o’clock, Markus inaugurated the event and
briefly explained every station,
illustrated everything one could discover and
explained which workshops were offered.
The opening was really interesting with Mister Richter…
and like I said before, which multimedia activities
awaited us, which workshops were taking place.
There were three workshops by the way: »diaspora«,
»real life jumper« and »stories«.
We will illuminate »Real life jumper« later in detail;
unfortunately, I didn’t visit the other two… wait,
I’m now allowed to say, so I did visit stories,
a bit delayed but it was interesting nevertheless.
Unfortunately, there is no video sequence, forgive me.
And as I just read on my sheet of paper,
there was also a »MB Robot Reporter«, »Whereigo«,
a »do-it-yourself touch synthesizer« and many more.
I spill the beans!
Here you can see a young lady gambling
»space invaders« with a paddle, I must say:
a very interesting application!
You see here, I’m not sure,
was that a workshop? I don’t think so.
Anyway, it was about learning how to
create games with this program. Again, really brilliant.
Right here you can see the »real life jumper«.
It should have taken place in the backyard but
it was changed to the front of the building instead.
It was really interesting to copy the tricks and
hints of the pros regarding the questions how
everything works and how one jumps
best to surmount the obstacles.
And… oops. Come on! Close! And…
that was pretty good!
»Whereigo«, let’s have a closer look.
That was the nice guy, whose name I don’t
remember… embarrassing… who I don’t want to call
it trash… I would rather like to say that they made
musical instruments out of toys no one will
ever need again. Really interesting, sounds very
crazy but it is surely capable to assuage
body and soul. More on that later.
On the one hand it’s of course filing
things one can win prices with, on the other
hand it’s also important:
when the prices have been given…
who was able to elate the jury
and who had what it takes?
and the one who placed third in the category
7 to 11 years is Midas Keppke for
»Harry Potter und der Legostein der Weisen, Teil I«
»Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Lego brick«,
the fabulous world of sorcerer's apprentice
Harry Potter, that’s what the 10 year old Midas
is taken with.
The stories and audio books were inspiring him to
take himself a pen and write his own script.
Then he awakens Lego pieces.
The result is a brick movie out of almost 1.000 single
pictures that is based on the existing characters
and stories, but also adds own details and plot lines.
Thus we are going along with the sorcerer's
apprentices Harry, Hermione and Ron on their
everyday life where not everything is
always as adventurous as in Hogwarts.
Ron is sended to his room to tidy up while his parents
are going to the city to buy a new magic wand since
the old one fell prey to a miscarried legerdemain.
»Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Lego brick«
is a remarkable, highly detailed and individual
work that has been realized with much elaboration
and passion during several weekends as a
one-man-project. In favor of this accomplishment,
the jury honored him with the third place
in the category 7 to 11 years.
If I should request you one more time to
applause properly during this event:
this is exactly what I expect.
»Hello Midas.«
»Hello.«
»Yesterday you already explained how you work on
this project. You were reporting about using seven or
eight software programs and described how
everything is working. How long did it take
you to teach yourself all of this?«
»Oh… it took me quite a long time, actually.«
»Do you have a lead for somebody who thinks
'When he is able to, I want that as well,
I get started.‘? How does one learn it best?«
»Uuum…«
»Did you just start or did you have some assistance?«
»My father showed me a little, afterwards one
can already work by oneself, then you recognize‚ okay,
there’s still a flaw, I could improve it that way‘
or 'I still need that or that«
»Okay. The title already alludes that it’s all about
lego bricks. Do you have an arrangement
with the company?«
»No, we once tried to broadcast the movie
on their website but it didn’t work.«
»Did you build every building on your own
or are there prefabricated kits available?«
»These are all kits one has to build up on his own.
In the new movie- meanwhile, the second part has
been released the entire Hogwarts-Express by now,
there are four kits available but
that one is a proprietary construction.«
»Wow, not bad. Again, yesterday, you pointed
out that this is part I, now part II has been
released how many parts are planned?«
»Um, we’re not sure yet.
We don’t know when the
final slaughter will take place.«
»OK, maybe we wait until you have reached
a suitable age before the final slaughter will happen
but on the road there, 150€ and a MAGIX-Software
package might help you.
Thank you for coming around!«
And a little music to refresh!
Hey folks, the awards ceremony just occured
MB21 and I can proudly say that I have reached
some success because I am placed third
in the category 16 to 21.
As you can see: aha, aha, aha:
for the YouTube channel »Cliquenwesen«.
Terrific stuff. Really terrific. And in addition to that,
I received a coupon of 150€ – which I will use
to pay off my tuition fee.
In addition: »MAGIX video deluxe mx premium«,
a very nice program… the only problem is:
system requirements: Windows. I own a Mac.
I don’t know yet how to manage to get it started…
but nevertheless, I must say that it was
a very nice awards ceremony, the awardees won well
deserved and I am really thrilled.
Recommend to everyone to participate, really:
file something next year, even preschooler are
allowed to participate, which also enthused me,
they really operate charmingly with video collage
and especially stop motion movies.
So: Really dare to participate. And: NO, I haven’t
been instructed to advertise, I really mean it
because I’m really enthused.
And yeah, next year I will be joining in again,
for the last time. Afterwards, I’m too old
and not allowed to join in again. But: really terrific.
And now I‘m visiting the aftershow party and I’m
curious what there is to discover.
There will be some »remixes« from the projects we
were giving in, feature film, stop motion movie,
whatever there was.
Fine, that’s it basically, I’m very thrilled like I said
before and I’m sweating a bit because I sprinted
here to be on time for the party,
I have to check the time… yeah, there
are 20 minutes left, that should be enough,
and to end this, even if the video diary has
not come to an end yet, I want to thank everyone
because without your help, without my subscribers
I would not be where I am right now.
I mean: a youtube channel with zero subscribers,
that would just be… a little critical.
And within two months, I won over 400 subscribers
just because of your help: you link my videos,
you like them, you comment on them, you favor
them… and to have a community like that is
simply bombastic, I am still flabbergasted that you
support me so much. I really don’t suck up to you,
I am really serious. Like I said before:
Without you, I wouldn’t even be here and
I wouldn’t win a price, without you,
I wouldn’t be in Dresden.
OK, I don’t want to babble any longer,
I’ll visit the aftershow party now.
Thank you, see you tomorrow,
all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the last day
of the video diary. Dig in!
A very good morning ladies and gentlemen,
welcome to my last video blog diary, so to speak.
My video diary has almost come to its end,
today I will tour the old town of Dresden,
I am glad, it’s my first time in Dresden,
I didn’t see the old town yet.
A scavenger hunt will take place there, I am really
curious what it will be like. I have to admit:
I am delayed but somehow, I didn’t manage to get up
early enough, to breakfast, to get ready…
Anyway, I hope to be in time and to be allowed
to participate. First of all, I have to find out
where it takes place. »Der goldene Reiter« is the
ultimate meeting point and as one can see,
ah, how can I manage this?
This is the railroad station of Dresden-Neustadt
and I must say that it somehow reminds me,
Dresden generally, of Cologne,
the central railroad station of Cologne.
And I somehow miss Cologne, when I think of it…
the Gamescom, it still is the highlight of the year.
I don’t think, it’s surpassabale.
Dresden is really beautiful, even tough I haven’t seen
very much yet… but no, Gamescom – it was a doozie!
You saw it yourself. Fine! I guess, my tram
will arrive soon I hope, quarter past, still five minutes
left, it’s already pinging. I must say, even if the video
diary has not come to its end, my conclusion:
very nice. It was really nice, it was funny and
I don’t know what to say, I am still overwhelmed.
Of course, the journey was a bit daft,
the train annoyed me, delayed one hour,
circa 8-hour-journey all in all, really hard and today
again 8 hours back, I can’t be bothered.
I would like to stay. On the other hand:
I am a bit homesick, Stuttgart is beautiful…
ok, see you in the old town. I see I still have
15 minutes to film, I will exploit that and cut it
as it will fit somehow. OK, thanks for watching,
see you in the old town!
I really must admit: Dresden is a lovely city,
I enjoy it, I really enjoy it.
I have exactly three hours left until my train will
arrive, then I will be going back to
Baden-Württemberg. Somehow sad…
but on the other hand, it’s nice to go back home.
I cannot describe it properly and I don’t know what
to think. But I must say: I already miss Dresden.
When I think about the fact that I was just walking
along the Elbe… in addition to this bombastic
weather… it’s a great feeling.
Well, I will go to a café now, drink something,
eventually with a croissant and afterwards, I am
going to discover the remaining places for me,
today, in Dresden. So, see you!
And the train is coasting again, so: welcome back,
I’m just sitting in the train, in the ICE from
Nürnberg to Stuttgart, I’m going home.
I´m already sitting here for about 5 hours,
I slept a while, at least, I think I did but I must say
that I’m stilll tired. Of course, it’s late and five hours
of driving, that's a bit thick! I currently enjoy having
one cabin for myself, that’s why I can film without
being disturbed. I want to use this sequence to finish
my video diary… do we cross a tunnel or what?
Yes, I want to finish my first video diary,
I hope you liked it, I hope I could put everything
across properly, really something different from me,
normally, I produce… I already did so much
as you all know but it’s the first time I created
a video diary. I already delivered my conclusion more
or less but a very short feedback from me:
Dresden was absolutely fantastic.
The journey, to repeat myself again, was not that
exhilarating but afterwards, things were looking up,
especially after the presentation.
MB21 – great event, next year, I will be there too.
If the jury will not choose me: as well, why not?
It’s well worth seeing, no question.
The old town yesterday, rather today, was really
beautiful, you were watching the sequences,
the records. I hope you liked it and could,
even if not Dresdner, gain a little insight
what the city looks like…
and the ticket inspector visits me…
The goodbye was so awful
I wanted to restart the recording!
The ticket inspector, if he watches the video,
I really hope that he will get a frisson,
he really stumped me!
The goodbye was so bad that I recorded
it one more time and then just add it.
Yeah. I just want to say one more time:
Thank you. Without you, I wouldn’t have been in
Dresden and my last question for you, the last
question in this video – did I actually ask something
in this video? I’m not sure, no, I don’t think so
How did you like the video? Should I create more
video diaries when I’m on route?
Is it profitable, do you gain an insight and do you
think it’s interesting or do you rather think:
'OK, actually, it’s not necessary.‘? Apart from that,
I would be pleased with a green thumb,
because, as you all know, a green thumb shows me
that I have a green thumb and that again shows me
that I should accomplish more gardening because
I can… or something like that…
Yeah, let’s drop that. So, favor it, comment on it,
like it… I already said that.
Show it to your friends,
let the community grow and live on.
