Hi, my name is Windy St. George, and this is how to make gripe water. Gripe water is
available on the market, but it sometimes has alcohol in it, which isn't recommended
for babies now-a-days. So you can make you're own. It's normally made from crushed dill
seeds mixed with chamomile tea. So you have to crush the seeds yourself. Make sure you
that you buy whole dill seeds and then crush them up lightly with a spoon and then get
about a teaspoon or two, put them in to a large cup, then put in the chamomile tea and
pour boiling water over it. Let it steep for ten minutes. Mix in sugar so that it's quite
sweet so that the baby will suck the water, also the sweetness can cause soothing for
their gas as well. After ten minutes, strain it and give the child about two teaspoons
of the water at a time. Right before breast feeding is best. Do not add honey to sweeten
the gripe water, because honey is not safe for children under the age of one. It sometimes
has botchalism in it, and their system can't handle that.
