Gary: Durability may actually be the number one reason somebody chooses to go to a BioThane
belting over traditional nylon or leather. In the applications from equine to canine
to military in regards to where you’re looking, this coating protects the webbing.
Ethan: Our product is much more abrasion resistant than an uncoated product. The resistance to
sunlight. The resistance to chemicals. It’s a very versatile and durable coating that
we’re using with a polyurethane and PVC.
Craig: Adhesion really is the key to our product and it really is what sets us apart from everyone
else. And that’s the reason why our products are so durable. When we think about our products,
we think about things that are going to last a long time because the coating is going to
stay on the webbing and the coatings are very long lasting. They can hold up to a lot of
cycling, a lot of scraping over a surface like a buckle or an edge of a piece of hardware.
We’ll do testing in our lab on the product. We’ll do checks with our quality equipment.
Robert: The hex bar abrasion test for durability through belts and buckles over long term.
The Taber abrasion is more testing towards grit whether it’s picked up from a road
or on boots or on gloves. So given all that when you put it all together, the final product
is tested quite thoroughly. I’m confident in the durability of the product.
