Toyota Motor announced the launch of the redesigned "Crown Majesta" in Japan on March 26. The latest fifth-generation model was developed as the top Toyota brand sedan.
Since this car was going to become a top of the line Toyota model, we considered how to make it impressive. But we didn't want to make the body too big, so although we made the wheel-base long, we minimized the overhang in front and behind. We designed this car so that, seen from the side, it appears spacious, smooth, and long. The front is aggressively shaped, to give the car a commanding presence.
The new Majesta has an extended wheelbase, 75mm longer than its predecessor, providing ample legroom for rear-seat passengers, and yet Toyota managed to keep the vehicle’s length under 5 meters, thus creating a roomy and comfortable interior.
In this design, we wanted to show off the materials. So for example, we've made the wood look like the epitome of wood. We also included highly lustrous, metallic trim. As a result, the interior has an exquisite contrast, without being too showy. We've created an interior that is subdued, but with exciting accents.
Combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission, a 4.6-liter V8 engine delivers a mileage of 9.4km/liter.
Among safety features, the new Majesta comes standard with the world-first front-side pre-crash safety system, pre-crash seatbacks, and airbags, including the world's first rear-seat center airbag.
The new Majesta is also equipped with a hard drive-based navigation system loaded with the map-on-demand function, which provides automatically updates map information, a rear-seat entertainment system that features a high-resolution 9-inch monitor built into the cabin ceiling, and the Toyota premium sound system, with a 19-channel amplifier and 20 speakers, offering sound quality comparable to a live performance.
The high-end 'F Package' is available from 7.9 million yen. Toyota aims to sell 1,000 units of the newly designed Majesta every month.
