Lincoln park....
is beautiful.
It's absolutely beautiful.
It's in the name, the parks there so many different parks here, and green space.
you know it's hard imagining walking around a city for breath of fresh air but
Lincoln Park offers you that ability.
It's got a neighborhood feel. You see all these young families walking around people say
hi to each other like it's a small town.
It's a really safe neighborhhood which I think is really important.
At DePaul we are about about three quarters of a mile down from the beach
so anywhere on campus in Lincoln Park you can walkdown to the water
I love going to the zoo, the Lincoln Park Zoo near the lake front.
You kind of forget you are in Chicago the third largest city in the country.
It's really a unique bland of the city as well as the college campus.
Everybody who is freshman and usually a sophomore or junior or senior
also reside in this neighborhood
so this is where you are going to find the majority of the student body itself.
It's a very, very strong campus feel but located right in the heart of a ton of other stuff.
Halsted actually holds one of the big shopping districts in Chicago
A lot of cafes and coffee shops around here
A lot of cute little restaurants
I'm from New York and when I got here people always boast that
Chicago deep dish is the best around, and I was very skeptical about that.
I thought there is no way Chicago deep dish can beat New York style thin crust.
but you know what I gotta admit it's the best!
Just a couple blocks from here is Kingston Mines and Blues on Halsted, two of the oldest
blues bars in the city, you know right within walking distance of DePaul.
Also any kind of underground music scene you want there are tons of venues for that.
We're right by Wrigleyville area which is really fun with the Cubs.
You definitely get that south side versus north side baseball rivalry.
Being from Detroit I am kind of a Tigers fan so that doesn't help me
too much but I've been to a ton of Cubs game and Wrigley field
is always a great place to hang out.
As far as Lincoln Park is concerned I feel that if offers
worlds that would necessarily get somewhere else
DePaul sits right in the heart of it, you are close to everything else
you are close to a bunch of restaurants, a bunch of cool places to visit.
You're a 10 minute walk from the lake a block away from trains which
take you right to the city which is only a 10-15 minute train ride.
Just the neighborhood itself has everything you really want as a new student
